Topic: Good Thing We Have ObamaCare

I am coming around to the idea that wasting a full year on debating ObamaCare was a good thing..

Housing is overrated anyway..

Housing starts see biggest drop since 1984

Housing starts posted their biggest decline in 27 years in February while building permits dropped to their lowest level on record, suggesting the beleaguered real estate sector has yet to rebound from its deepest slump in modern history.

Groundbreaking on new construction dropped 22.5 percent last month to an annual rate of 479,000 units, according to Commerce Department data released on Wednesday. This was just above a record low set in April 2009 and way below the estimates of economists, who had been looking for a smaller drop to 570,000.

January's figure was revised up to 618,000 units from 596,000. But that did not change the tenor of the report, which confirmed that the sector is failing to recover despite interest rates near record lows.

Building permits, a hint of future construction demand, fell to a record low of 517,000 units from a revised 563,000, and were down by about 20 percent from levels seen in February 2010.

Housing was at the epicenter of the financial crisis of 2007-2009.

One key impediment to the sector's recovery is a vast backlog of unsold inventory, while a shaky job market has also made consumers reluctant to embark on any major new financial commitments. Making matters worse, a glut of foreclosures, stalled in recent months by revelations of improper loan documentation, is depressing the market.

I think they are BOTH pretty important,,,,(shrugs)

IM sure they got plenty of things done BESIDES the highly publicized debate , but I also agree it was time they could have worked on something else

than again, under the best circumstances, they werent going to resolve every issue thats important to every american,,,

Didn't the "stimulus" occur around the same time as the pseudo debate about Obamacare? Consider how well the stimulus has worked out. Also consider that there was no real debate about Obamacare. The Dems indicated all along that the majority that didn't want it shoved down our throats were supposed to just sit back and take our 'medicine' because they alone knew what was best for us. I'm kinda glad they didn't spend more time on economic issues. Goodness knows we wouldn't have been able to afford it.

Here's an extremely dumb question.
How can they have debated something they never read?

Only Pelosi (House Speaker), speaking for the house at the time stating,"We won't know what's in it, til we pass it."

so odd, pages of google and I cant find this particular 'quote' anywhere..

what I can find is this quote

"But we have to pass the bill so that you can find out what is in it, away from the fog of the controversy."

notice the use of 'we' and 'you' signifying a speaker and an audience

the audience was the Legislative Conference for National Association of Counties.

Willing has been working very hard to keep his favorite threads at the top of the page all morning.

Rita Rudner had a line from her stand-up act that stuck with me. She was talking about a woman who had been in labor for something like 26 hours. 'I don't even want to do something that feels good for 26 hours '. Good job, MsHarmony. I'm taking a break.

Besides, I decided that I should spend more time flirting with some of the terrific women on this site and less time butting heads

Meh. It's ok Willing. He can call people what he wants. Those of us who know what we're talking about and have valid points rto make don't need to resort to belittling those who disagree. I've been away for over nine months and it's nothing more than a case of 'more of the same'. @Ms Harmony....nice to see you. :D

yup, people have pretty strong opinions and substantiate/defend them and noone thinks they are wrong and few even attempt to see any points of view but their own,,,,

but, its lovely there is a place to do it in the CYBER world where noones life has to be ruined for it,,
