Since I'm kinda cynical, I secretly believe that when people type, "lol" they aren't really laughing.
 I'm torn between thinking it's just me, or a full-blown conspiracy. Your thoughts please...

This is hilarious.
I used to talk to this guy on Messenger, who was very new to the internet, and he thought that lol meant lots of luck. So whenever we would talk, he thought I was saying lots of luck, several times in our conversations, and especially after jokes!

I constantly have problems in chat because I am not a fan of the emoticon or LOL or LMAO, etc. You have to be able to pick up from my words the tone in which I am saying something and a lot of people can't and it gets me in trouble with the ultra literal. I only type LOL if I actually laughed. I do say "Cool" or "Neat" or something if I say it out loud when reading something and I am old school and still type ; ) for instance.

i'll admit i use LOL way too often! Even if i find something just the tiniest bit amusing! i very rarely laugh out loud!
