Topic: Justice in America? | |
---|---|
After reading the firestorm of public outcry against the Penn State University and their football program regarding their ex-defensive coordinator coach Jerry Sandusky, I realized there is no justice left in America.
Let me explain. Jerry Sandusky raped innocent young boys and as far back as 1998 people in places of authority could have done something about it. He was caught numerous times since then by others who could have done something about it but the beats of the marching drums in band section of their football stadium continued to pound unabated until only recently. However, the impassioned outcry toward those who attempted, against obviously insurmountable odds, have been left in his wake and are casualties of his evil. One over looked simple fact: In 1998 a young boy (one of the victims) came home with wet hair after an afternoon with Mr. Sandusky. The mother became suspicion and asked the son, he said he took a shower with Mr. Sandusky and immediately went to his room and closed the door. This of course alarmed the mother who contacted Mr. Sandusky and lured him to her house to speak. When he showed up to speak with the mother of the victim 2 police officers were eavesdropping on Mr. Sandusky over heard him admit to his mis-deeds, this was in 1998. If 2 cops who heard unsolicited admissions of Mr. Sandusky were unable to get this man rightfully behind bars, how then were those who were not in positions of authority to do anything about this menace? For example, another person at the center of this firestorm is a current assistant football coach Mike McQueary, he is the person who originally discovered Jerry Sandusky raping a young boy in the showers on the campus of Penn State. At the time, Mr. McQueary was a graduate assistant and Mr. Sandusky was a pillar of the community and thus subject to Mr. Sandusky and his whims. Mr. Sandusky not only held power over this innocent boy, he held power over Mr. McQueary as well. He could affect whether or not Mr. McQueary would continue with the team or even be allowed to continue his career. Even outside of Penn State, Mr. Sandusky held much power and sway in the football community. The problem many people have with Mr. McQueary’s actions is that he did not stop the rape from taking place when he witnessed it. From my understanding he saw this happen and waited one evening before telling the head coach Joe Paterno and the Athletic Director. Many people are vilifying this Mr. McQueary in print for not being more proactive and stopping the horrific act he unwittingly witnessed. I am not sure about any of you, as I have personally never witnessed something this awful first hand, I could only imagine the shock he must have felt not only seeing this horrific act taking place but to see the perpetrator be a man that not only he, but Penn State Football, the whole university and the community at large held in high regard. More importantly, Mike was a 25 year old young man who happened to be in the wrong place and open the wrong door at the wrong time. Mind you he played for this coach throughout his college career as a quarterback at Penn State. He then left to pursue a career as a professional quarterback only to return to Happy Valley in 2000 as a graduate assistant. It must have felt like old hat wandering the sidelines, meanwhile he was still in extremely close proximity on many occasions to this evil creature. I am sure Mr. McQueary held Mr. Sandusky in the same light as everyone else he had so deftly fooled throughout Penn State. Mr. Sandusky for all outward appearances was a great defensive coordinator and a great guy. Like everyone else, Mr. Sandusky easily fooled Mr. McQueary. By not speaking up as loudly as some people feel he should have, Mr. McQueary may be considered immoral by some, but not by me. There are no right moves in a rotten situation; you just try to do your best. While his best may not be good enough for some of you, those who condemn loudest should look in the mirror. Had Mike spoken up more loudly than he already did, it is without a doubt in this writers mind that Mr. Sandusky would have lied. Not only had Mr. Sandusky, a pure evil monster, fooled a whole community at large into believing he was a good guy, certainly he could have lied his way out of such an outrageous claim. Mr. Sandusky took advantage of both the boy and the young man in the same horrific moment. Certainly the scars will be much more prolonged and worse for one of those whom Mr. Sandusky took advantage of, but does it matter? Both the young boy and young man will forever by victims of Mr. Sandusky’s actions. Just to be clear, I am not in any way saying what happened to the young boy was nearly as bad as what happened to the young man, not in exactly the same way. But just as the young boy did not, I am sure the young man certainly did not want this. Mike was unfortunate enough to walk through an evil door to witness a heinous act and we want to hurt him. This awful situation will scar Mike in many ways. Not only the devastating betrayal he must have felt as he witnessed Mr. Sandusky perpetrate this but to know he was fooled so deeply by a man who disguised himself as a good guy. Without a doubt the image alone will be enough to make him wretch every time the thought crosses him mind, which I can assure you is likely more than he would ever want. And for the rest of his life. Let’s hang him! Fire his a$$! Jail the ing child molester! This is what justice has come to? We have bankers walking free today who have committed the largest financial gang rape on this country in its glorious history. Seriously, do you think it will make you feel better if Mr. McQueary were to burn? These same banker crooks who have turned an amazing American can do attitude and know-how into a decrepit economy, shipped our jobs overseas, sucked dry the pensions of people who were even lucky enough to have one and bathed us, our kin and our kin’s kin awash in unsustainable and un-payable debt. Children of the future have been financially raped in a way which is intended to enslave them for their lives. And the bankers still want more. Yet they still walk free. Pardon me, they still fly free on their golden parachutes and Lear jets. The theft of this nation is morally corrupt, greedy and basely evil. Everyone here agreed? Good. Shut up mister banker, you are not allowed a vote. Somebody please replace the ball gag. What have you done to stop the bankers and their rapping of this nation and future generation’s to come? What have you done to ensure this financial raping stops? I wonder if we as a society by registering our indignation on a small scales and not sticking our individual necks out too far are all Mike McQueary’s. We are disgusted by Mike McQueary because we are Mike McQueary. Sure we got angry when trillions of dollars were printed to bail out the crooks but did we take action? Nothing has changed; the bankers are angling for a second bailout as I type. Mike McQueary, at the risk of his chosen livelihood spoke up and told his boss and his boss’s boss. Many of us have been David and shrinked in the face of Goliath in order to preserve our way of life. Mike risked his neck by even telling anyone and look where it has landed him now. Now think hard, you really want Mike McQueary to burn? This could easily have been you. He accidently walked down the wrong hallway, leading to the wrong door and opened it up like an awful gift on Christmas day. Then the grenade went off. From that point forward his life was ruined no matter what he did. We all have opened a door to see something on the other side we did not expect. Mike McQueary’s door had a monster lurking on the other side. Yet Mike is being destroyed in the press. As I type, the flames have been fanned so heavily by soap box heros who think not of their pen’s unintended consequences, Mike had to leave town due to threats against his life and has armed protective services. He, his wife and 2 year old little girl are probably holed up in some hotel unable to go to the store without fear someone may attempt to harm them. I wonder if the authors of these scathing articles calling for his scalp ever realized their pen’s ink could accidently bleed red. I guess we will see. I hope not. Justice was intended to be just. Is this the behavior of a society that has a modicum of being fair or just? If Mike McQueary is harmed, as he already has lost his job, and bankers who destroyed countless lives with their greed walk free, then I say no. He was a 25 year old young man who saw a man he thought he knew very well committing such an unthinkable act he froze. He then told his superiors who he thought should know, at his own personal risk, in order for something to be done. If you still are not with me or at least questioning your unquenched hatred for a man you knew nothing about a few days ago, then Monty Hall should be proud. After all that is all it is, what’s behind door number 3? Mr. McQueary got the wrong door at the wrong time. He could have never known a monster was behind that door. And here he sits with armed men protecting his life as well as his family. Yet you want to tell me there is justice in this world? In order for us to see the justice in our lifetime the way justice was intended to be, as a foundation for a just society we need some deep seeded changes to take root. Here are my suggestions: I think we all need to learn more about jury nullification which allows us to judge people and if their acts are truly evil, not if they did not follow the strict letter of the law. We have way too many people in jail anyway. Support your local county sheriff for they are the highest law in the land, yes they supersede the federal’ez Most importantly, critically and time sensitive, we need to find out more about creating a grand jury through submitting a complaint about government corruption…which from my limited understanding may be far easier than we would ever believe. We need to rediscover and redefine justice. In our haste to judgment we risk ignoring justice. We should beware – ignoring justice at our own peril. |

has any story touched on how young/old the 'boy' was? The mention of penn state causes me to question the age involved.
In any case though, this is what happens when we have a 'guilty until proven innocent' media society mixed with capitalism. The bottom line is companies and schools and business are at the whim of their profits and their shareholders and any th reat to those profits or shareholders must be eliminated swiftly. So that anyone who has any negative appearance in media whatsoever, causes a dip in consumerism and support from a very opinionated public, and that person must then be used to show how the company, business, or school is 'listening' to what their public wants. ITs a cycle that is often dangerous and unfair, but that is one of the potential side affects of the system we have in place. |
