that movie kicks ass!!!! it shows what western civilization had to go through about 1500 yrs ago with the dirka, dirkas and its kinda what we (the west) are facing now with the dirka, dirkas (Iran, which used to be persia, and afghanistan, lebanon and so on) so I think all the dumb asses who think we should let the muslim's alone should watch this movie. oh yeah and another thing this movie is done independantly because the p****y liberals in hollywood would'nt support it. SO RENT IT AND TELL ALL YOUR FRIENDS ABOUT IT!

Um, 1500 years ago, Western civilization was busy trashing Rome and establishing Christian feudal societies that would dominate the European political landscape for a millenium.

If you mean 2300 years ago, which is pretty large difference, then I would have to say that no, that movie doesn't at all depicts what Western civilization had to go through. In fact, it doesn't depict much of anything historical at all. What it does do is pay disrespect to every person who lived through the Pesian Wars and the Battle of Thermopylae, including both the Spartans and the Persians themselves.

Yeah, and the Persians weren't Muslims. They had a totally different culture. Comparing them to modern Islamic nations is like comparing the United States to the Cherokee civilization. The only thing they share is geography.

In fact, Iran does its best to supress Persian culture whenever it can, since it finds it distinctly non-Islamic (which is true), and this is unfortunate because Persian culture is and was quite fascinating.

And Lebanon and Iran have practically nothing to do with each other except common political interests and common religion. They come from totally different culture groups. Hell, even their languages are vastly different—Persian (Farsi) shares more in common with English than it does with Arabic (Persian is Indo-European, like English).
