The House On Sorority Row (1983)

After a seemingly innocent prank goes horribly wrong, a group of sorority sisters are stalked and murdered one by one in their sorority house while throwing a party to celebrate their graduation.

YAAAAAY!!!! THREAD FLIP!!!!

I have the 2-disc DVD set for House On Sorority Row. Great audio commentary with the director and the actresses who played Katey and Vicki.

One of my favorite slashers.

What were the highlights in the commentary? Anything interesting? :)

It was filmed at a real sorority house, though the house had been closed for years.

The director was unhappy with the make-up effects on Eric, which is why you only see his face briefly.

There was a different ending- Katey didn't survive at the end but is seen floating in the pool with the other victims, the studio felt the ending too downbeat, so it was cut leaving it with an open ending.

I'll add more as I remember it :)

Ooooh, nice! I think they usually do that in movies, eh? Make two, sometimes several endings, then choose what looks best?

Yep, plus sometimes you get studios that want more control and start demanding changes.

Oh, the set designer had worked on all of John Water's movies from the 70's, and John would come and visit the set.

The house mother's voice was dubbed because it was felt her voice wasn't tough enough.

Red, finally got that DVD set in the mail I was telling you about-

Right now I'm watching The Basement, it's an anthology horror flick, a group of strangers in a basement meet a stranger who then shows them their future fates- so far it's hilarious: Both on purpose and unintentionally. The first story a lady feeds people she doesn't like to a monster in her swimming pool. She keeps a list of victims written in a copy of Stephen King's Skeleton Crew! haha

The DVD case and VHS come in a box that looks like the oversized VHS boxes from the 80's. It's great!

The second story is a reworking of A Christmas Carol, but set on Halloween, the third is about a film crew making a bad zombie movie being attacked by real zombies. The fourth is about a man who buys a house that was the site of horrible murders years before- he finds out the hard way that the house possesses the owner making them kill.

According to the audio commentary the film was shot in 1989, but when they got the film back from the lab everything was too dark, and they had no way of correcting it. The director gave up on the film and gave it to the director of photography- The d.o.p. stored it away in boxes and forgot about, then in 2010 he started talking to someone about the film, that person told him he would edit it together, this was done, plus the d.o.p. got someone to do the film score, and someone re dub all the sound and dialog. And found that the company Camp Motion Pictures was interested in releasing it.
