To make a long story short, my father passed away unexpectedly in June and his side of the family isn't really allowing things to go smoothly. They are ticked about his estate etc & are taking us to court over it...sooooo when it is all said and done I think I need a vacation!

The only problem is...where?
I want to go somewhere fun...but in the US. I don't have the money to travel outside unless it's fairly cheap.

Any help\ideas would be greatly appreciated!

Saint Augustine Fl is amazing...they have bed n breakfasts, old Spanish style streets and amazing shops (around 200 of them). They also have the forts, pirate ships, great bars and famous restaurants along with ghost tours. Its pretty much a big place for history, shopping, the beach, relaxing and everything else.

I am very sorry for your loss...
But the question is what do you want to see or do?.. Everywhere is going to cost money..

Thanks UgaStyle! That sounds like a nice place, if my annoying kid sister tagged along she would probably have some fun as well. My grandparents go to Florida every winter and we always said we would travel to visit them..maybe this year we will :)

BayAreaGal, LOL! I was thinking about coming to Cali, my sister's friend just moved to Sacremento and she said she loves it!

Super, thanks! As for money being involved, I know that. I have money saved in the bank but because my dad is no longer here and we can no longer fall back on his income If an emergency should pop up. I could easily spend $2,000 for a good time, I've never really went on a vacation that I had to pay for so I don't know if that would get me anything fun or not *ponders*

Lonely, I'd visit you any day LOL.

How about Myrtle Beach, SC? They have something for everyone there, Charleston's only 90 minutes away, and the weather's usually pretty good. Oh, and it's not expensive at all--especially after Labor Day.

I would SO pack up and go there but sadly my family would be less than willing to follow along.
They were just there for my little sisters cheerleading competition, haha!

Thanks though, It's a lovely place from the pictures I've saw. I will visit someday eventually

Great! I don't know if kids are going but they have kid friendly cruises thru Disney.

Cruises are wonderful, but the 7 day cruises are a bit much to me. Too long being on the water. I like the kind where you take the boat to where you're going, get of that boat, and enjoy the island for about 3 or 4 days.

If you went into Sac-town you could get a rental car or van & go over to San Francisco to the golden gate bridge area fisherman warf, Alcatraz ohwell
Go north into the redwood forest

or south into Monteray bay... San Jose, see the trippy Winchester house, hurst castle.. many other things...

If you went east out of Sac town there is Lake Tahoe, Reno & so on!!
