The NSA’s Latest Attempt at Transparency Backfired On Wednesday, the NSA declassified three secret court opinions about the unlawful surveillance of American's phone and Internet data, ostensibly as part of its effort to increase transparency. Once intelligence official told reporters the incident shows the NSA is diligent about policing itself, and the FISA court provides "vigorous" oversight, with another saying the documents should help explain "the reasons why people shouldn't go into a panic over articles they read in the press." Instead, news reports focused on the revelation that for three years, the NSA scooped up as many as 56,000 communications annually that were between Americans and had nothing to do with terrorism. http://nymag.com/daily/intelligencer/2013/08/nsas-latest-attempt-at-transparency-backfired.html |

The numbers don't add up. NSA admits to grabbing 56,000 non-terrorism US emails a year. The documents say NSA collected as many as 26-MILLION emails annually. Are we expected to believe that NSA accurately grabbed 259,944,000 terrorist emails every year? I don't buy that for one second. I WOULD believe it if they said it was the other way around - that out of every 26-million emails they grabbed 56,000 were from terrorism suspects. The reality is that this government is collecting every website you look at, and every piece of electronic information you send or receive...including this one.

And I intend to show them I'm one of those awake and watching when they go thru mine! Prison offers a better retirement plan than SS these days! |
