143-year-old law puts fear in officials during shutdown

Administration officials now live in fear of a 19th-century law that could get them fired, penalized or even imprisoned if they make the wrong choices while the government is shut down.

The law is the Antideficiency Act, passed by Congress in 1870 (and amended several times), which prohibits the government from incurring any monetary obligation for which the Congress has not appropriated funds.

In shutting down the government, most memos cite the law as the reason. The Government Accountability Office says employees who violate the Antideficiency Act may be subject to disciplinary action, suspension and even "fines, imprisonment, or both."

CSPAN Reporting that 90% of IRS employees will be furloughed! *Update: Shut down saving US Taxpayers $6.7 million per hour!

Let the shutdown continue! According to graphic below posted, 815,932 DC jobs are being furloughed. If they were all getting paid minimum wage in DC ($8.25/hour) that results in a savings of $6.7 million USD per hour or $53 million per day! What a great way to solve our debt crisis!

The government considers the IRS, SEC, FCC and the EPA non essential services...how cool is that! Some of the others taking big hits are interesting as well......

Yes..... Please make the shutdown permanent!!!

Call your congressman leave a message (There are no staffers now) and tell them you support the government shutdown!!

This is great. Lets see how these government employees find work in the private sector. Guess what they wont.

Making six figure salaries sitting in an office all day at the taxpayers expense. Government workers are the greediest of all.

The bloated US Gov't is the largest employer these days, sucking the life out of the economy and burdening the average taxpayer.

If they let this continue people may actually see how non-essential they actually are, and just how big a drain they have become on the economy rather than any type of asset!

It goes a long ways to show how little the gov't actually supplements the economy rather than being a burden on it!

Obama meets with Goldman Sachs for New Line of Credit in Violation of US Law

URGENT MEMO: The current U.S. President has chosen to meet outside of government law, possibly selling off additional parts of the nation's sovereignty to men in suits who are more than ready to capitalize on the current US budget crisis.

US Treasury head Jack Lew described the situation as follows: "If we have insufficient cash on hand, it would be impossible for the United States of America to meet all of its obligations for the first time in our history".

Nice legacy Mr UnPresidented!

The bank chiefs he met with included such upstanding money lenders as Lloyd Blankfein of Goldman Sachs, Michael Corbat of Citigroup, Jamie Dimon of JPMorgan Chase & Co, and Brian Moynihan of Bank of America, and it's worth noting here that each and every one of these men have presided over one financial fraud or scandal of some kind over the last 5 years.

Lies, deception, scandal and cover-up..... is there any level to which this incompetent imposter and his corrupt administration won't stoop?
