I have been dating my boyfriend for 5 years.(met on here). I want to get married, but I don't think he does. My problem is it bothers me cause he used to talk about getting married. My question is am I being ridiculous for letting it bother me so much? I know he loves me cause he shows it all the time.

After recently separating and heading towards a divorce with two kids in tow I would advice u to wait until he makes it clear under no uncertain terms he wants u to be his wife n only woman for the rest of his life. I never thought i could divorce my husband but it's amazing what someone can do to make u change ur views. Now my only regrets are my everyday thoughts of did I push him into our marriage our kids even though I no all our decisions were mutual and much wanted at the time it's a terrible thought to live with. Sorry if it seems negative just being real. Hope he shows u how much he wants to b ur husband n u guys live happily together for a very long time :)

If he doesn't want to get married, there's nothing you can do to change his mind. Either stay with him without the benefit of marriage or try to find someone who wants the same thing as you do. I'm sorry for your situation, in a weird way, I know how you feel.

Best of luck.flowerforyou

Maybe you could explain why you want to get married and why you can't be happy with the way that things are between you. Is he faithful? Is he commited to your relationship? If so then what difference will it make, apart from costing a lot of money for a party?

Why do YOU want marriage? Will it make you feel secure or something? Or is there something else bothering you? If its just what you need to feel happy, thats valid. You should be happy. After 5 years, to move on will be difficult.

Notice Im saying to move on, and not to pressure him. If you two arent on the same page then its not a match. If you can be happy in the status quo, great. If not, why should you jump into that volcano. You'll only wind up resenting him and that would be unfair.

This. So much.

How do you know he is not interested in marriage? Have you had a discussion about it with him recently? What you want and what he wants may be two totally different things, but really the only way to find out is to talk about it instead of wondering. If he loves you as you say he does, I am sure he would open to the conversation.

when a man has to be nice to girl to get the cookie his behavior is different providing your the one. why would a guy marry if he gets the benefits marriage for free??? tell him if he wants to get what he wants you have to get what you want !!!!!!! claim your power---'' we teach people how to treat us'' !!!!!!! relationships are not 50-50 they are 100-100--no relationship is worth getting only half your needs met---

as long as you live together and have a stable relationship don't bother thinking about marriage , you both do live as wife and husband practically .

Thanks for all the advice. Some of you got the impression we live together. We don't, neither of us believe in living together before marriage. I think I will just step back and see what happens.
