I asked my child, I'm his legal Guardian, what classes he was signed up for in the coming year.

One class he said was PE. Regular PE, I have no problem with. However, he signed up for soccer.

I found this out by calling the school.

I called his counselor 3 different days and left messages, I needed to talk with her. Never called me back. I then called one vice-principal and got her voice mail. I directly called the other one.

The second vice-principal asked me if I had discussed taking him out of soccer. WTF? I am the parent and make decisions based on what I believe to be best for his education. No, I did not discuss anything with the child.

His counselor finally returns my call and was very indignant. She said she would change his class and hung up.

We are in an area where Mexicans are catered to more than in northern areas. In High School, I was told, they only teach classes in English. I just found out differently.

I will get ahold of the school on Monday and I will choose what class the child will be assigned to.

I want him in classes that subject him to English.

What would y'all do? Choose the class or, allow the counselor the freedom to place them?

the classes should be assigned based the requirements for his grade level to keep him on track for graduation (Ima teacher preacher).

Ask for the appropriate curriculum from the Board of Education and go select the classes. He will get the news when he gets his schedule, I agree. We are parents for a REASON.

On the Physical Ed. Leave him in soccer - encourage him to try out for interscholastic soccer. could be his best way to college. cancel the regular PE class - waste of his time

get him some ESL classes this summer - should be free & good luck.

make sure he takes a lot of math

I don't get paid enough to go pick him up from school.

He rides the bus home.

He is taking aviation mechanics.

I'll have to speak with his mother about him getting ESL classes. He spends summer vacations in Mexico with her.

right IDK the details of your situation...just kinda put some info and thoughts out there to chew on...whatever he is taking, the biggest thing is to make sure he's taking what he needs to graduate.

I talked to his mother and she seems open to looking into ESL classes in Mexico during the summer.

Time will tell if she follows through.

Thanks for the ideas. flowerforyou
