APNewsBreak: AP sources detail Clippers deal

sports.yahoo.com/news/clippers-owner-donald-sterling-hasnt-203442165--nba.html

The individuals, who are not authorized to speak publicly, told The Associated Press that the $2 billion deal allows for up to 10 percent of the team - or $200 million - to be spun off into a charitable foundation that Shelly Sterling would essentially run.

The deal was negotiated by Shelly Sterling after husband Donald Sterling's racist remarks to a girlfriend were publicized and the NBA moved to oust him as team owner.

One of the individuals said Shelly Sterling and Ballmer would be co-chairs of the foundation. The individuals said the foundation would target underprivileged families, battered women, minorities and inner city youths. ''To benefit those on the receiving end of Donald's rather abhorrent remarks,'' one individual said.

whoa

Now that Mr. $'s mental capacity has been professionally determined to be declining toward Alzheimer's, which probably isn't at the beginning stages given his age, it makes me sick to my stomach ill to have to continue seeing how his illegally recorded private comments are still being used against him by all those wanting to financially benefit off of his personal weaknesses.

This entire scandal has done nothing but bring shame down on so many entities involved. And I for one, as part of the public who've been watching since the beginning am still waiting to see when Mr. $'s civil rights that were violated to achieve a means to an end are going to be addressed properly.

Well his civil rights weren't truly violated, at least not by the NBA. I'm figuring that the civil rights you are talking about concern freedom of speech and the illegal recording. The freedom of speech area only concerns the government and the press or people. The illegal recording concerns his girlfriend and he would have to have her charged in the state where the recording took place. If the recording took place in California then all parties need to be aware that the recording is taking place while other states have other laws concerning recording conversations. Here in South Dakota only one party has to be aware that the recording is taking place and that used to also be the federal law concerning recordings.
Also the girlfriend has supposedly been caught on tape making disparaging remarks about minorities also even though she is one. Her recording was for a tv show also some time ago. So what this whole thing boils down to is two racists, one a rich, old white guy and his gold digging mixed minority whore spouting off at the wrong times and to the wrong people. The guy figured because he is rich that he is allowed to have some eye candy on his arm but he should have been wiser with the eye candy and just rented her for the evening instead of keeping her around so much.

I definitely agree about the eye candy... it's just they made such a big deal about the tapes and their airing is what cost the Sterling's the right to own the team. Now its all just fading away as if this was the plan before it even started. It all smells too fishy to me.

While I don't agree with Mr Sterling's statements and do find them distasteful, I also know that he has a right to his vocal opinion. I checked my copy of the Constitution and could not find an article that guarantees a right to not be offended. I have watched TV show language degrade to where children need to be sent to bed by 7:00PM. But let one person use the "N" word and he is hung and drawn and quartered by noon. Unless of course it is used in a Rap "song?"

So the guy is bigoted, so what. There is probably not a single person on the face of the earth that has not used a bigoted/racist remark at least once.
