Recently I had an interview with a woman who resides in a senior care facility.
She's in her eighties. Her legs have been amputated, due to diabetes. Her husband had recently died. She took ill after he died and was bedridden until last week. Though we talked of many things, what follows is what has stayed with me.
Her brightly colored floral dress, her nails matched the dress. Her Jamaican accent. Her smooth skin. The silent tears that fell when she spoke of things from the past.
Her two favorite things from her childhood, Toto, a coconut cake her grandmother used to make, and a childhood game called 'little girl in the ring' tralalalala which she sang in a soft voice.
When I was finished interviewing her and had thanked her for her time, I asked her if she'd tell me how old she was.
She looked me in the eye and said "I'm in my sixties."
I smiled and said not a word.
She then said "What, you don't believe me?"
I can still hear her chuckling as they wheeled her away.

When you are allowed insight into someones soul you are indeed fortunate, and you little one, I know appreciate that.
Well done
