there is no meeting for adult children of alcoholics in my area unbelievably so. all the support goes to the perpetrators, not that my parents ever drank. but anyhow, i take full responsibility for my being. it's called transitional suffering or something like that.

i think i'll fall in best with the sex & love addicts. our symptoms and characteristics probably mesh though i haven't gotten laid recently enough, but that's in there too. emotional social sexual anorexia.

i looked better starving and scrwing. but sheesh, i was only thirteen.

sure there are meetings for adult children of alcoholics, it's called alanon. Went to all kinds of AA meetings with my EX as well as the Alanon to deal with a mother who was an alcoholic.

i always interpreted al-non as a support group for those having to deal with a loved one's addiction and maintain the relationship.

i hate my parents. does it still apply? i thought acoa sounded more like my speed.

alanon is a support group that helps YOU to deal with the happeneings of what is going on with the addiction of your loved one. Whether you maintain the relationship is up to you. In my case my mother had been dead a lot of years so there was no relationship. I just had to deal with all the crap that went on in my childhood because of her addiction and they helped me to do that.

Please do remember that even though a lot of people do this for the heck of it...some of us, are here for friends, and we will be there if you need us...that being said, if you ever need to talk, I'm here and I know for a fact so are others.

I agree with CAT...Al-anon is for adult children of alcoholics. I find if you have an addict in your family that leads to having an addictive personality. For me OA, SLAA and Emotion meetings were BEST for me. I definately have an addictive personality. So glad it wasn't drugs or alcohol though, because I could have easily been addicted to those as well...
