Topic: Delta Minister Passes | |
---|---|
Sunday pm Mrs. Virginia Hilton passed to the arms of her Lord. For those who rage at in justices hopefully you will raise a toast to this lady. I can not tell you specific times and dates but back when it was as likely to get you raped or killed a wife and mother of young children went to the unpopular mission of the Mississippi Delta and made an indelible mark on history. Her absolute faith and courage in putting all she had on the line and helping establishing the grassroots system that helped turn this country's poorest people of color into a movement was nothing short of remarkable. This fairest skinned woman with a gentle voice and kind hand didn't make glorious speeches or recieve accolades for her work but because of her many benifited. Quitely and consistently through her life she repeated the story and challenged those who watched from afar or after the popularity of the revolution slipped from the headlines. However because of her popular leaders developed and the seeds of equality were nurtured by her day in and day out service on the front lines of clinics, daycare programs, and voter registration campaignes even after the media had left and the protection of numbers faded. When you enjoy the the ripple effect of her setting aside pedjudice and hatred I hope you think of her for a moment.
