"" An anti- abortion group on Tuesday
released an undercover video of an
executive at Planned Parenthood sipping
red wine while discussing in graphic detail
how to abort a fetus to preserve its organs
for medical research — and also the costs
associated with sharing that tissue with
scientists.
The video, filmed by a group called the
Center for Medical Progress, threatens to
reignite a long -standing debate over the
use of fetal tissue harvested through
abortions, and could add fuel to efforts
seeking to ban abortions after 20 weeks of
pregnancy.
In a statement , a spokesman for Planned
Parenthood said the video misrepresents
the organization ’s work. Planned
Parenthood clinics, with a patient ’s
permission, may sometimes donate fetal
tissue for use in stem -cell research, said
the spokesperson, who added that the
group’ s affiliates, which operate
independently, do not profit from these
donations.
“At several of our health centers , we help
patients who want to donate tissue for
scientific research, and we do this just like
every other high -quality health care
provider does —with full , appropriate
consent from patients and under the
highest ethical and legal standards ,”
spokesman Eric Ferrero said. “ In some
instances, actual costs , such as the cost to
transport tissue to leading research centers,
are reimbursed, which is standard across
the medical field .”
He accused the Center for Medical Progress
of mounting a misleading attack , similar to
other groups that have tried to mount
undercover “ stings” targeting Planned
Parenthood.
But anti -abortion groups said the video
shows that Planned Parenthood is
essentially selling fetal organs and that
Congress and other authorities should
investigate.
Buying and selling human fetal tissue is
illegal in the United States . Federal
regulations also prohibit anyone from
altering the timing or method of an
abortion for the sole purpose of later using
the tissue in research. Donating the tissue
for research, however, is legal with a
woman’ s consent.
Anti- abortion groups also said the callous
nature of the discussion captured on film
should tug at viewers ’ consciences —
particularly when Deborah Nucatola,
Planned Parenthood’s senior director of
medical research, apparently describes
“crushing ” the fetus in ways that keep its
internal organs intact , and her remarks
about researchers ’ desire for lungs and
livers.
“I ’d say a lot of people want liver , ” she
says in the video posted on the Center for
Medical Progress’s Web site , between bites
of salad. “ And for that reason, most
providers will do this case under
ultrasound guidance, so they’ ll know
where they ’re putting their forceps. ”
She continues : “ We ’ve been very good at
getting heart, lung , liver , because we know
that, so I’m not gonna crush that part , I’ m
gonna basically crush below, I ’m gonna
crush above , and I’m gonna see if I can get
it all intact .”
The group also posted a nearly three- hour
version of the video that it ’ s calling the
“full footage. ” Over lunch at a Los Angeles -
area restaurant, the unidentified activists,
a man and a woman, told Nucatola they
worked for a fetal tissue collection center
that aimed to snare “ a competitive
advantage” by providing local samples for
researchers who ’d like to avoid lengthy
trips between clinic and lab . They said they
worked in Norwalk , a suburb of Los
Angeles.
“Every provider has patients who want to
donate their tissue , and they want to
accommodate them, ” says Nucatola. “ They
just want to do it in a way that is not
perceived as: This clinic is selling tissue.
This clinic is making money off this . In the
Planned Parenthood world , they ’re very,
very sensitive to that . Some affiliates might
do it for free . They want to come to a
number that looks like a reasonable
number for the effort that is allotted on
their part ... ”
One activist asks , “Okay, so, when you are
—or when the affiliate is—determining
what that monetary .. .So that it doesn ’t
raise the question of. ..‘ This is what it ’s
about.. .’— What price range would you ... ?”
“You know, I would throw a number out, I
would say it ’ s probably anywhere from
$30 to $ 100, depending on the facility and
what’s involved, ” says Nucatola. “ It just
has to do with space issues, are you
sending someone there that’ s going to be
doing everything .. .is there shipping
involved? Is someone going to be there to
pick it up ?”""

Yea the callousness is pretty sickening. Oh, and the irony...."donating", to use the PP executive's words, body parts of the aborted to science to perpetuate life....they should think that one through a bit more.

I'm not interested in sickening myself, so I wont watch it. I urge caution however, when anything this upsetting is posted these days.

We have seen MANY faked videos put out just like this.

The worse and more upsetting they are, the more likely it is that they are hoaxes, specifically designed to outrage us.

I have seen right wing fakes, left wing fakes, sales-gimmick fakes, UFO fakes, pro religious fakes, anti religious fakes, you name it.

It's just too cheap and easy to do this kind of thing.

This sounds to be one put together by someone hoping to elicit exactly this kind of response, by having actors play out the absolute worst evil fantasy they could work out.

Frankly, I don't believe a word of it.

GOP lawmaker calls Planned Parenthood video 'simply horrifying'

Rep. Martha Roby (R-Ala.) took to the House floor in an emotional speech Tuesday to blast a viral video purportedly showing a top Planned Parenthood official describing the transfer of aborted fetal tissue.

The undercover video, which surfaced Tuesday morning from a group called the Center for Medical Progress, shows a woman identified as Deborah Nucatola, Planned Parenthood Federation of America's senior director of medical services, discussing fetal tissue procurement.

"A lot of people want intact hearts these days, because they're looking for specific nodes," the woman says.

"Yesterday was the first time she said people wanted lungs," the woman adds. "Some people want lower extremities too, which, that's simple. I mean that's easy."
Roby called the video “simply horrifying.”

“This is one of those moments as a nation that we have to ask ourselves, Who are we? Are we really going to tolerate this inhumanity? Are we going to look the other way while babies are brutally killed and organs are harvested for profit?” Roby asked.

“These aren’t specimens, they are babies, for goodness’ sake,” the Alabama Republican said.

Planned Parenthood said the video “grossly mischaracterizes” fetal tissue donations.

“The promotional video mischaracterizing Planned Parenthood’s mission and services is made by a long time anti-abortion activist that has used deceptive and unethical video editing, and that has created a fake medical website as well as a fake human tissue website that purports to provide services to stem cell researchers,” Planned Parenthood said in a statement.

Moments earlier, Roby removed herself as a co-sponsor of a bill to create a commemorative coin to increase funding for breast cancer research that was eliminated from the vote schedule Tuesday. GOP leaders decided to hold off on a vote due to concerns from Republicans that proceeds from the coin sales would go to the Susan G. Komen foundation, which has had ties to Planned Parenthood.

"" Abortions in the United States
Total number of abortions in the U.S.
1973-2013: 56.5 million+
219 abortions per 1,000 live births (according
to the Centers for Disease Control)
Abortions per year: 1.058 million
Abortions per day: 2,899
Abortions per hour: 120
1 abortion every 30 seconds
These statistics include only surgical and
medical abortions. Because many
contraceptive measures are abortifacients
(drugs that induce or cause abortions), it is
important not to overlook the number of
children killed by chemical abortions. Since
1965, an average of 11 million women has
used abortifacient methods of birth control in
the United States at any given time. Using
formulas based on the way the birth control
pill works, pharmacy experts project that
about 14 million chemical abortions occur in
the United States each year, providing a
projected total of well in excess of 610 million
chemical abortions between 1965 and 2009.""

And oh looky...even ABC is now reporting on the "fake" video....

"" NEW YORK — Anti-abortion activists on
Tuesday released an undercover video
showing a senior Planned Parenthood official
discussing the disposition of parts from
aborted fetuses.
The activists contended the video reveals
illegalities, but Planned Parenthood said the
activity in question was the legal, not-for-
profit donation of fetal tissue to research
firms.
The video was made covertly last year,
depicting a lunchtime conversation between
Dr. Deborah Nucatola, Planned Parenthood's
senior director of medical services, and anti-
abortion activists posing as potential buyers
for a human biologics company.
Nucatola is heard in the video referring to
fetal hearts, lungs and livers and to efforts to
retrieve these organs intact rather than crush
them during an abortion procedure.
Commercial sale of human fetal tissue is
illegal under federal law, but non-commercial
tissue donation is allowed if the woman
undergoing an abortion gives her consent.
In the video, Nucatola is heard giving a range
of monetary estimates. According to Planned
Parenthood, which has national offices in New
York and Washington, D.C., the doctor "was
speculating on the range of reimbursement
that affiliates can receive after patients state
they wish to donate tissue after a procedure."
"At several of our health centers, we help
patients who want to donate tissue for
scientific research, and we do this just like
every other high-quality health care provider
does — with full, appropriate consent from
patients and under the highest ethical and
legal standards," Planned Parenthood
spokesman Eric Ferrero said.
Ferrero said there's no financial benefit for
tissue donation for the patient or for Planned
Parenthood.
"In some instances, actual costs, such as the
cost to transport tissue to leading research
centers, are reimbursed, which is standard
across the medical field," he said in a
statement.
That point also is conveyed by Nucatola, who
says in the video, "This is not something with
any revenue stream that affiliates are looking
at — this is a way to offer patients the
services they want and do good for the
medical community."
The video was produced by the Irvine,
California-based Center for Medical Progress,
which released it in collaboration with several
national anti-abortion organizations that
called for a congressional investigation.""

So there are more than a couple issues here. Callous remarks by medical professionals are not new. I was married to a nurse for 15 years, and went to several social functions where patients and their situations/families/proclivities were openly discussed in very stark terms.

My family includes those that serve or did serve as first responders. Graphic discussions around the dinner table were the norm. These people get desensitized to their situations as a self defense mechanism.

In regards to 'selling' these body parts, no matter if they are 'donated' for an amount to help defray costs or are sold to actually generate a profit, I wonder how informed the consent is on the part of the mom?

Since these organs are supposedly going for research, does the mom know what it's for? I'm curious of the following scenario. Many drug companies now are harvesting vast amounts of DNA and building genome models to see what you might be susceptible to. I doubt the info is being gathered just to help you. I would suggest it's to target drug development for the highest percentages of illness. So if 80% of us are for example going to get 'hotdog fingers' when we turn 57, the drug companies are going to work like hell to get a hotdog finger drug to sell us for the next 20-30 years. NOW, if your aborted child has the DNA sequence to provide the basis for this miracle drug, what do YOU get out of it? They make BILLIONS, you get squat.

If you however walked into a drug company office and made them an offer saying you can have my DNA, I just want 10% of anything you develop, do you think they would go for it? Especially IF you could track any and all use of your DNA in their processes so you don't get ripped off?

Hmmmmm. Wonder if people at Planned Parenthood have any side deals with researchers or drug companies? They provide the materials, and the companies provide a path to profits?

Planned Parenthood apologizes for official's tone in video

Planned Parenthood Federation of America President Cecile Richards apologized for the lack of compassion portrayed by an executive.

"Our top priority is the compassionate care that we provide. In the video one of our staff members speaks in a way that does not reflect that compassion, this is unacceptable and I personally apologize for the staff members tone and statements," Richards said.

The temptation for me to post articles, links, YouTube links on this thread how Afro-American women have been targeted for years by Planned Parenthood.
That would of had this thread rocking & one way or another their would of been strong opinions & debate.
BUT, I was too curious to see the BASIC reactions & morality. spock

Video of another Planned Parenthood exec released....

"" A new undercover video shows a top Planned
Parenthood official discussing “less crunchy”
techniques to get “whole specimens” and
haggling over the price of fetus tissue sales
because she wants “a Lamborghini.”
And the activist behind the sting operation
says there's much more to come.
Center for Medical Progress Project Lead
David Daleiden told Fox News his group has
"at least 12, really solid videos" among
thousands of hours of footage.
"So, we'll be doing this for the foreseeable
future," Daleiden said.
The video released Tuesday morning, the
second put out by CMP, features a woman
identified as Dr. Mary Gatter, who was
president of the Planned Parenthood Medical
Directors’ Council until 2014 and now works in
a leadership and advisory capacity at the
local and national level of the organization.
Over drinks, Gatter and the undercover
activists discuss “specimen” prices, eventually
settling at $100 for "intact tissue."
“It’s been years since I’ve talked about
compensation, so let me just figure out what
others are getting,” says Gatter, during a
conversation alleged to have occurred on Feb.
6. “If it’s in the ballpark then that’s fine, if it’s
low we can bump it up.”
Gatter then turns to the women seated to her
right, pats her on the shoulder, laughs and
says, “I want a Lamborghini.” Asked to repeat
the statement, Gatter replies, “I said, ‘I want a
Lamborghini.’”
It is against federal law to sell fetal body
parts. Planned Parenthood has maintained it
donates the specimens, charging only for the
expenses it incurs.
"We don't want to be in a position of being
accused of selling tissue and stuff like that,"
Gatter says in the video. "On the other hand,
there are costs associated with the use of our
space, and all that kind of stuff."
Daleiden said Tuesday that he believed
Planned Parenthood's activities were illegal.
"Our video evidence and the video evidence
that CMP will continue to release over the
coming weeks and months is prima facie
evidence of criminal activity at the highest
levels of Planned Parenthood," he said.
Planned Parenthood Vice President of
Communications Eric Ferrero released a
statement calling the video a"heavily edited"
release by "activists who have been widely
discredited." Ferrero said his organization
could not confirm the video's authenticity.
"What we see on this tape is a woman who
says 'we’re not in it for the money,' and that
any money must be related to reimbursement
for costs," Ferrero's statement said.
The video making the rounds Tuesday was an
edited 8-minute "summary" of a much longer
conversation. The full video, lasting more than
an hour, has also been posted online.
"Anybody can go and, if they want to watch an
hour to three hours of baby parts negotiations,
they can judge for themselves if we just chose
the highlights," Daleiden said.
Planned Parenthood has received nearly $46
million in federal grants in 2015, according to
government records, for non-abortion-related
activities. The organization has taken in more
than $207 million in federal funds since 2012.
When asked on Monday if the White House
would reconsider federal funding for Planned
Parenthood, press secretary Josh Earnest said,
“No.”"
