Because for some people, it's natural, others it's just a case of being human, but for some it's because they are a$$holes!

Both of them know that it is a lie yet they do. But some don't lie ever

i really believe that your mate is the one person that one must always be

straight with.....the other option rarely works out for the best.....

In my experience, the reasons are pretty varied.

I've dealt with everything from the people who are psychologically addicted to lying, to the point where they can't tell the truth no matter how hard they try, to people who have worked out a huge intricate maze of philosophy, with individualized reasons for each of the things they lie about, and how, and why.

Some of it's truly harmless. Saying "nothing" when your mate asks you what you're thinking about is usually in the "harmless" category, even if you were fantasizing about boinking that cheerleader from your high school fantasy days. Saying you're allergic to some food, to save your host the embarrassment of telling the truth, that they couldn't cook anything you'd find edible if their life depended on it is that kind too.

The relationship killing lies are the tough ones. Lying about being faithful and about truly caring about how the mate feels, is the worst. I expect most of us have at least known someone who told those terrible whoppers to us, or to a friend.

I think people tell those, for all the obvious reasons: greed, laziness, selfishness, and above all, cowardice.
