A college and a high school about a mile apart from each other in Walnut were evacuated Thursday after bomb threats were received at both campuses.

The threats were received about 10:20 a.m. at Mount San Antonio College, 1100 B. Grand Ave., and at Walnut High School, 400 N. Pierre Road, according to Deputy Guillermina Saldana of the Sheriff’s Headquarters Bureau.

“We’re just going through the precautions,” Saldana said around 12:10 p.m. “I don’t have any more details. I don’t know how (the schools) got them (the bomb threats).” An online notice from Mount San Antonio College asked students and staff to “calmly leave campus.” All classes and other services were canceled until at least 4:30 p.m.
