Anyone have any natural remedies to relieve a migraine? I have tried gatorade, meds, caffeine, ice, heating pad, you name it, Ive tried it.

Just curious.

only thing that works for me, is a quiet room and a cold wash cloth, till I can fall asleep.

My son used to get them bad...the ONLY thing that helped him...was to VOMIT and then sleep in a pitch black room. When he woke up.....he would feel better.

Try a hot cup of green tea, or if you have nausea sometimes taking a car sickness remedy (dramamine) will help you get through a day. Good luck! flowerforyou

i've had migraines for 14 yrs, my kids had them too, mine get soooo bad, sometimes i have to go to the ER for them...but if i can catch them and lay down in a quiet, dark room, with an ice pack and try to sleep with my meds that usually helps. I am on preventive medication too, but I still get them really bad. I feel for u, it's been a really hard struggle for me....i hope u find something that helps u...flowerforyou flowerforyou

some people try modifying their entire diet. (like dairy free a/o gluten free) its kind of extreme but may be worth a try. i have had migraines my whole life. i am on perscription meds and its not enough so i am considering trying this myself.

My neurologist has me on vitamin B2 (riboflavin) 100 mg, 2 of them daily, and it takes about a month before you notice any effect but it does seem to have helped not just my migraines but just general headaches as well.

Also Topamax is a med that is used as a preventative, I am on it too, but had breakthrough headaches, adding the vitamin B2 seems to have helped a lot. Other than the suggestions above, cold rags, ice packs, dark room, and sleep, etc., catching it early is the important thing too.

I get headaches from pulling to many g's or high perfromance aerobatic manuvers on occasion, (not a total bad thing I actually got to pull gs'). What I do is get someone to give my neck and shoulders a massage, right below where the arm his the torse is does it for me. Have someone massage your neck following any pain you feel and that will lead you to the cause of your problem. (if it is caused by strained muscles)

In any case that old home remedy works for many aches and pains. Try it and see. I never get headaches other than from my antics.

I have been on Topamax for 6 years, they have slowly increased my dose...they can't increase it anymore--they do have too increase it slowly, but it was finally the only preventative medication that worked for me. I still get migraines...but not as frequently as i used to.. Good luck to all!! flowerforyou flowerforyou
