Just a little thought... When I was a kid I spent a lot of time at my grandparents through the 70's and early 80's, then I got involved in my teenage life and went on. I had moved away when they died. Lately I've been thinking a lot about them and how they were, there was no running water and I would go to the spring house to bring water in, they had an outhouse and they rarely left their property. They couldn't read and I remember reading the mail to them when I was there. We spent lots of time in the garden and sitting on the porch in the evening snapping green beans while they told me stories. I wish I could go back now and ask them so much, I have so much respect for them and loved them dearly. I personally will be ecstatic to have grandchildren and can't wait to spend time with them. My parents are divorced and are not really "grandparents" to my kids, it's just different. I for one am going to make it my goal to instill in my children and grandchildren that same feeling I had as a kid and hope to start my own traditions with them. I'm sure my grandkids will sit in awe when I tell them stories before the Internet! Anyone have any thoughts or memories they'd like to share about their grandparents?

Love your life story.

Thank you! Actually have been thinking lately of writing more about growing up, not necessarily for everyone to read but I do find it calming to take time out and reflect. Helps to keep you grounded at times.

My grandparents both sides (mom & dad) are great. But we are closer with dad's side, as we all grew up there. They have a big house, as I could say during that time, we can run upstairs and downstairs. Grandpa and grandma, we're so displinarian, they don't spank kids at once, they rather talk first in a very nice way. As Far as I remember, grandpa cuts the hair of my two brothers , he's a great cook too while grandma was the one taking care of the store, she used to tell some stories when I was younger. Me , sis and brothers learned a bit of what language they spoke, they speak chavacano fluently. That's an advantage for us, maybe not fluently but atleast we can understand even a bit.

Sad, they're not here anymore . . .

MY GRAND PARENTS DID NOT HAVE MANY ''THINGS''. WHAT THEY HAD WAS PRICELESS, THE

TRUE MEANING OF LOVE AND COMMITMENT TO EACH OTHER AND THE PEOPLE AROUND

THEM......I LOVED YOUR STORY.....
