Here are a few things to Ponder......I would love open, honest answers from the heart..........

Why do you think God hates pride?

Can you think of a time in your life when you allowed God to change your focus from someone else to him?

Can you think of a few potential disasters from which Christ saved you since your initial experience of salvation?

How would you characterize your relationship with God?

Distant Somewhat close and personal Very close and personal

If you chose close and personal what characteristics about your relationship reflect a degree of familiarity? If not, what causes you to feel distant from Him?

What do you think being created for God's glory mean?

Great post Feral! I believe God hates pride because we belong to him and pride is about self. Self is about what you've accomplished, what's in it for you, the world revolves around self!

God want us to have a personal relationship with him and if you have this, you'll feel love/compassion for those less fortunate than yourself. you'll know that HE is in the man on the corner that is asking for your help to find a meal. You'll know that HE is in the widow woman down the street that needs to know someone cares about her. You'll know that HE is in the elderly, who have served in our communitees and don't want to be forgotten. You would know that God is everywhere and he blesses you to be a blessing.

Personally my relationship with God grows everyday, I am in no way a saint, but I fear God. Fearing God in no way refers to being scared of him, but we recognize him for the awesome being that he is! He is my Father, I was made in his image and he wants to help me to grow spiritually!

God has speared me several times, once I almost drowned as a child of ten. He protected and advised me through out my career and as of late the Lord spares me, when I make disasterous mistakes. It's called Grace, I thank him for his grace and mercy everyday.

Great answers Cleo......

I totally agree that God seeks humble hearts.....no place for pride nor arrogance.....

I too just had a situation with a woman that I was not liking the way I was reacting to her.....I gave it to God.....I find that I do that alot.....I give him my burdens because I know he can handle and will give me the answers that I seek...if I am quite to receive them...

Thanks Cleo for the input.

And God Bless you sweet lady.

“Why do you think God hates pride?”

I don’t believe that God hates pride. I believe that God want us to be proud of our accomplishments. I believe God wants us to stand tall with the pride of being his creation. I don’t believe that God would be pleased if we groveled on our knees as though we are unworthy creatures. What creator would want his creation to grovel on their knees begging for forgiveness of their unworthiness? No father would be pleased if his children behaved in such a way.

Perhaps you are using the word “pride” to mean arrogance, vanity, or self-importance. That’s an entirely different concept as far as I’m concerned. Perhaps the usage of the word has changed over the millennia?

”Can you think of a time in your life when you allowed God to change your focus from someone else to him?”

I have always allowed God to do whatever she wants to do.

”Can you think of a few potential disasters from which Christ saved you since your initial experience of salvation?”

I have never had an “experience of salvation” so the question is moot to me. I’ve never felt that there is anything to be salvaged from.

“How would you characterize your relationship with God?”

Best friends. That’s about the only thing I can think of in terms of human words. Symbiotic would be even better.

“Distant Somewhat close and personal Very close and personal”

Couldn’t be any closer.

“If you chose close and personal what characteristics about your relationship reflect a degree of familiarity?”

Harmony? That’s the only word I can think of. It’s hard to put a spiritual experience into human terms.

“What do you think being created for God's glory mean?”

I personally don’t like the word “gory” because of the word’s history. Glory is too often associated with things like Victory, Triumph, Conquest, etc. It also has historical connotations associate with it that are implicative of winning battles etc. So I shy away from the word “Glory”. I don’t believe that we should be “Soldiers for God” for example.

I prefer to think in terms of living life for God’s “splendor”, or “beauty”. In other words, to glorify God means, to me, to appreciate God’s creation and to partake in it with passion and to enjoy it. This is why God created the world so that he could enjoy it through us. To “glorify” God is to simply appreciate, and indulge in a good way, in creation. This is the purpose of creation.

I believe that this is what it means to live for God.

God gave us the gift of life, we give God the gift of living it. It’s a symbiotic relationship. God is with us always and experiences everything we experience. So live the best life you can for God, and be proud of your accomplishments.

Unfortunately, my youth was ruined by a false religion that gave me the wrong picture of God, thus I was unaware of how to live for God. Fortunately I was able to find God on my own as an adult in spite of the false religion. flowerforyou

I don't believe in god, so I can't say that I believe he hates pride. I think if god were to exist and hate pride tho, it would be because people should consider themselves equal. Pride creates jealousy.
I used to be a Christian, so if anything, he changed my focus from him to his nonexistence(or misguided belief that he does not exist, depending on what you believe).

I almost drowned once when I was a little kid. I don't know if god saved me or not, My mom grabbed my hand and pulled me out of a whirlpool.

My relationship with God is uhm... nonexistent?

answers mean more questions, huh?laugh laugh laugh

PRIDE: which one? The pride of life? Could keep us from listening for the small, still vioce, perhaps.

Pride and joy? expressive love is good on so many levels.

Focus: I went from micro to macro in a month one year. Or so it seemed. Sought God because my wife had left a journal out and open one day. Couldn;t help noticing she was apparently praying for someone to love. Made me determined to get God to talk to me. Read the Bible cover to cover twice and started praying for this Holy Ghost thing so I could talk to God. Got it alright, and she left me. Not what she wanted. Liked me the other way.

I was high on Holy Ghost whiskey for years!!! Didn't know it scared her. Last thing on my mind. Years later, she told me that the journal entries weren't about me being no good, but about her feeling inadequate for me. What a twist, but all was different and never to be the same.

Ironic how all that got started, where its gone and how it is now. Unbelievably ironic.

The saddest thing is that she's on her 8th marriage. Our daughter is on pins and needles never knowing what mom is gonna do next. Don't know what to make of it to this day, some22 years later.

Saved from disaster: One day I'm watching TV and doing a take-off on some blueprints. The TV seemed to repeat itself as though some deja vu thing happened. Thought my mind was playing tricks on me. Later that day, I went to ordder some pieces of marble, and while on a windy bridge over the bay, a semi pulling half of a double wide home flipped on its side in front of me. Kept going back to that moment earlier in the day when the TV did the deja vu thing. Just the amount of time necessary to put me behind the wreck and not under it. oooeeeeooooouuuulaugh

Me and god.... personal, way personal. ain't got a secret and don't think too much!!!laugh laugh laugh

Created for God's GLORY?: Grins on the sidelines. It may be 10,000 years before everybody gets their fill and He and I can have a quiet lunch. No wut I meen? I can wait, I got all the time in the world...uh, scratch that...all the time in eternity!!! In the meantime, I want to ride on some of those beasts he's holdin out on, like a seraphim!!! I'm serious, too. I know the Lord has a sense of humor, and I bet those things fly really, really fast. I like fast!!

" eye has not seen, nor ear heard, all that the Lord has in store....." Well, I think we are the prize. That which God has great and unspeakable joy to share when God says with a new vision for us to view, "what do you think of me now?"

The best is yet to come. That is His Glory. I see humor in the delightful work of His hands. I understand why God gets attacked. We want the candy now. Gimme my blankee!!!

But like all good things, we must be patient and endure the lessons. bigsmile

Why do you think God hates pride?

First off let me explain my beliefs....I live by no god...
I exist through no god, and prefer to use the term 'collective consciousness'.

Man created through a clever manipulation, collected over many years, and adapted, collated and
selected for public exposure, through the Nicean Council, a book, commonly known as the bible.
In this book, was a series of stories,' parables', if you prefer, for society to adher to,
with the major figure heads; being the religious leaders,
and an 'entity' who apparently set down these 'policies' of how to act.

If a person has pride, they have confidence, if they have confidence, they may question authority.
They may, through their very questioning, disturb others into questioning, and then the whole structure
of this manipulation of their positions of power, may be threatened.

A god to hate pride is man's creation.

Can you think of a time in your life when you allowed God to change your focus from someone else to him?

No, as I do not follow...I walk my own path...and suffer my own consequences, with grace and integrity.

For I understand what personal honour means, and what speaking my truth means.

Can you think of a few potential disasters from which Christ saved you
since your initial experience of salvation?

No. I do not require salvaging.

How would you characterize your relationship with God?

I do not require a relationship with the christian god, or any other godhead.

Distant Somewhat close and personal Very close and personal

None of the above.

If you chose close and personal what characteristics about your relationship
reflect a degree of familiarity? If not, what causes you to feel distant from Him?

I believe the christian god is man's invention.

What do you think being created for God's glory mean?

A manipulation of men, to create religious fervour, and a self righteous behaviour in others.
Where all other beliefs are wrong.

Parallel to Islam's fundamentalists, as an example, at it's most extreme.
