Far-right politicians from across Europe hailed the victory of Donald Trump in the U.S. presidential election as “historic.”

Geert Wilders, leader of the Dutch far-right Party for Freedom, congratulated Trump and said “The people are taking their country back.”
“So will we,” he added, referring to the upcoming elections in the Netherlands, where his party is projected to do well in the polls.

French far-right leader Marine Le Pen also congratulated Trump on his victory, even before it was official.

Beatrix von Storch, of the German far-right party Alternative for Germany, called the result “historic,” according to Die Welt.

“Even if Trump is an outsider, he will have to prove that he will really change the U.S., especially when it comes to foreign policy.”
