SO, another general 'Eyeam' type question

Do you think social media has been a bust or a boon on income potential?

For example, there are people making tons of money being social media celebrities,, with a camera and keen knowledge of programming and videography

and on the other hand, employers now search through social media sites like twitter and facebook and are able to fire people, sometimes, even before they begin working, because of things they have posted or people they are associated with

Many more are losing jobs than finding wealth, I imagine,,,

but I personally think its the price we pay for 'technology' and egocentrism

Hi Ms.Harmony,

I believe this to be true and I agree with your statement.
I think it's sad in a way, it all depends on how every individual sees this and accept the facts, something very difficult to do so IMO..

To truly understand the impact of social media, companies must be willing to conduct experiments. Small experiments such as pre- and post-tests that measure consumer activity before and after a social media campaign are a useful way of assessing performance....
This can only be one example...

I do believe it can hinder people in certain work situation they may do ... and if I heard this right ... the FBI can now listen to anyone's cell or home line and computers as well ... they have been doing this for a long time for Snowden let out ...but use to have to have to get a legal... forget what that is called ... but these days know they do not have to get anything ... they just can ... watch or listen in on anyone ... I would even bet someones beliefs in politics can get them hired or fired from a job ... which should be wrong ... but can happen...slaphead and someone said to me once do you believe anyone in the media will try and jeopardize their jobs ... most do as their told for the pay ck ... but really is the same some can make or break you ... but believe they should all be more thankful from their music to the movie or tv rolls ...the ordinary person watches and listens to them ... but a lot let it go to their heads ... and just believe they are that great ... so who made who ... really ...

I agree with your statement, and I think with all the sites the employers take to long looking for the "perfect" employee. To me when they go on facebook to check out a future prospect is a fool's paradise because maybe someone who tells a off color joke or maybe looks at things different then the employer just might be a hard working person who can get the job done.

yes,, the telephone thing seems much more private to me and that would be a shame if employers were permitted to do that ,,thats next level

but because social media is by its nature not private,,,it makes it open game for anyone including employers

the dilemma of having an ego that needs to be seen and heard,, but only by 'some' people, some groups, or some nations,,,,,when there is no way for public social media to accomplish hat,, it goes out to the whole 'wide world',,,thus the World Wide Web

I agree that this is how it should be. IN such a profit driven world though,, every employer also has to think about their 'brand' and their consumers opinions can alter that,,,even opinions about the employers employees,,
