Can you guys help me shed some light on the phenomenon that was the reception of Michael Bay's Transformers movie? Before it came out, everyone thought it was going to suck. Right after it came out, no one could stop talking about how completely b*tching it was (despite being unable to express WHY they had that opinion). Now that it's out on DVD, more and more people are coming back to the original popular opinion that it sucked. I know that different people like different things, but what the hell happened here? :P

i dont think it sucked
bein a fan of this cartoon and tha toys as a kid
im glad it hit tha big screen and i love how Bay used every element of tha transformers universe to come to life, to see tha rest of society watch this on their own is priceless and ones who havent cared to know about tha "lil kid show" knowing a movie was made for us 80's kids is just a dream come true, tha rest who didnt like it, wel maybe they wanted to see more of tha cartoony side of it, but par from is special effects and at least bringing Cullen's voice into play made this movie a true epic, of course tha Transformers cartoon movie will always own and bring out tha kid in all of us, but this movie was pretty fair and i enjoyed it pretty much i own it and i watch it again and again and yes it is truly my fav movie now

I honestly just don't understand it. What is so appealing about a movie where the title characters are grossly under-developed, the focus of the movie is on three irrelevant human-based subplots, the writing is just plain juvenile, and starring people who can't act backed up by people who CAN but never get the chance to? I've been probing the opinions of everyone who's expressed a positive opinion about the movie as to why they enjoyed it like they did, but the best answer they could come up with is that you need to just shut your brain off in order to enjoy it, to just accept it as a "summer blockbuster" and enjoy the explosions.

well it is a real life movie they wanted to make it reality
wat i just think is funny how some people truly bandwaggoned to love transformers after this movie lol
Bay was truly trying to get othetr audiences into liking tha tranformers, not to be sexist, but also to get females who werent into transformers, but now craving for another movie and enjoying tha transformers world lol
seriously this is our society, to be brainwashed into likin things from tha media, it end and close its ust a blockbuster hit which will die out soon, but tha transformers fans will never forget and i am truly one of them real movie or not
its still all about tha 80's cartoons to tha 2007 cartoons and toys..

Reality? I find the idea of giant robots from outer space being more believable than Shia la Beouf getting hooked up with super-hottie Megan Fox. noway And a realistic Optimus Prime would NEVER say "Sorry, my bad".

"wat i just think is funny how some people truly bandwaggoned to love transformers after this movie lol"
That's PRECISELY what I'm talking about. Why did SOOOO many suddenly claim that it was the best movie since Citizen Kane, and that anyone who hates it needs to move out of their parents' basement?? It's the emperor's new clothes in 2.5 hours of film.

well its for tha younger generation lol
and well tha slang was learned from tha internet lol

other than dat thas story was mere from a cartoon format
but all in all this was tha story but i still say it was a great hit and it was Bay's style also, like tha Scorpion decipitcon bot scene was truly long lol, i think they exagerated dat scene well
it basically like a tank destroy almost everything its in way

I think it was a case of seeing it on the big screen and going Ooh....Ahhh and then when DVD came out we were able to analyze it and found...flaws..Such as Optimus having LIPS!?!? WTF...No I'm glad that they had the car that was the original Bumblebee represented.Showed they hadn't totally forgotten. But was good to hear my fav leader give his speeches of hope and warrior wisdom. And I hope they do a sequel and try a bit harder to keep true to the series spirit. Not style mind you but spirit.
