Hey, I lived in Salina, KS, all my life. I left right after high school and lived on the Mississippi Gulf Coast for a number of years...until Katrina. I ended up returning to Salina for nine months where I finished up my student teaching and my children attended school. I went back to MS, but I chose not to return to the Coast; instead, I moved to northern MS. Salina is a magnet--I'm going back after this school year. Kansas may not be the most "happening" place in the U.S., but it is a great place to raise kids.

That's an understatement. laugh

But, you are right, it is a good place to raise kids, as long as you are in the right areas. Especially here in Topeka, the schools and school districts are pretty varied in regards to their effectiveness.

I haven't spent a lot of time in Salina, but I have been there once or twice. It seemed nice. I know there was a restaurant there that one of co-workers said I needed to go to...but right now, I can't think of it. I'll have to ask him what it was.

And StarTrekkin, if you think it's cold here...I'm originally from Minnesota, so this is a heat wave. laugh

WELL--The cold SUCKS!!!!!!!! LOL Yesterday after 3 days of 77 degree weather it decided to drop to MINUS 50!!! Yea Well it feels like it grumble Anyway-- My heater isn't working in my car, i couldn't find a hat, my windshield wipers shredded and i had no washer fluid-and the water was low in the radiator- so i go to walmart to get all the above and some groceries, it was raining and freezing and slick and just generally Yuckie But i was driving safe slow and with my head lights on... shopped,, came out,, still no hat (they were all ugly LOL) and loaded the stuff in my trunk, put some antifreeze in my radiator, too cold to do the wipers (rain stopped so it was OK) get in to start the car-- and it was DEAD checked Yep the Lights were on Agggggggg, Lucky for me a city officer was driving by he got cables and Jumped me--

Got home and my fire had gone out in the wood stove (My ONLY heat) i went to build a fire and Guess what *** Flash back to Monday 77 degrees thinking to my self i should load up on wood in the house--Nah i tell my self i'll do it later "it's too hot"*** So in the freezing rain i'm bringing Wet, wood into the house trampping in my muddy boots yuck all over the living room ....

Wahhhhhhhsad I wanna go back to San Diego wahhsad hhhhhh

Had a rough day, Trekkin? I'm sorry all that happened to you, but some days Murphy's Law applies. I've had many of those days myself. Things will get better though.

I personally like this weather myself, because it's cool, comfortable, and of course, some females like to call it snugglin' weather. I was amazed to wake up yesterday (I got back from visiting my kids at 3 am Wednesday morning) to find ice droplets on my windshield. I kicked on the defroster, put on some tunes, and was ready to go.
