Ok, this is Dallas Cowboy news, so I figured, post it deep in the heart of TEXAS...
Well you may have heard the initial story that Dallas Cowboy Wide receiver, #13 Lucky Whitehead, was released from the Dallas Cowboys, due to a charge of shoplifting last year, among a list of other distracting behaviours. The fact is that a thief, used Lucky's, personal information during the arrest and not having identification, claimed himself as Whitehead. Prince William County Virginia, cleared Whitehead, because his lawyer proved that Whitehead was not even in Virgina at the time of the crime. Here is a news snippet to get you caught up: Sports Cleared of Shoplifting, Cowboys Receiver Lucky Whitehead Won’t Be Reinstated Lucky Whitehead after a Dallas Cowboys victory against Washington on Sept. 18 last year. Rob Carr / Getty Images By BENJAMIN HOFFMAN July 25, 2017 In his two seasons with the Dallas Cowboys, Lucky Whitehead was known nearly as much for odd incidents off the field as he was for his play on it. But as the facts emerge after a recent shoplifting episode that led to Whitehead’s release from the team on Monday, it appears the end of his tenure with the Cowboys was the result of someone else pretending to be Whitehead. That person was arrested on June 22 in Prince William County, Va., and charged with stealing more than $40 in food and drinks from a convenience store. The person had no identification with him, but he gave the police Whitehead’s name, date of birth and Social Security number, the police said in a statement. On Monday, the Cowboys became aware that Whitehead, a third-year receiver out of Florida Atlantic, was linked to a shoplifting case. Whitehead issued a denial later in the day, but the Cowboys released him anyway. The case began to unravel, however, and the police later said they had concluded that the person who had been arrested was not Whitehead. That person is not in custody and is being sought by the authorities. The development left the Cowboys faced with the fact that they had released Whitehead after an incident in which he had no involvement. Still, they said they had no plans to bring him back. The team confirmed that stance on Tuesday when Coach Jason Garrett told reporters at a news conference that the team’s decision to release Whitehead was “in the best interest of the Dallas Cowboys, and we stand by that decision.” Whitehead expressed his frustration that the Cowboys had not given him a chance to clear his name before releasing him, even as he explained that he was not in the same state where the shoplifting occurred. “Let’s not sugarcoat anything,” Whitehead said in an interview with The Dallas Morning News. “I was pretty much being called a liar.” As for how the mistake was made, the Prince William County police said a photo of the person who was arrested was checked against Virginia’s database of driver’s licenses, but after reviewing the case, the department realized it had erred. “Officers acted in good faith that, at the time, the man in custody was the same man matching the information provided,” Sgt. Jonathan Perok said in a statement. “The Police Department is currently seeking the identity of the man involved in the incident.” Ok, now comes the RUB!! Is the unlucky, Lucky Whitehead, due some serious class action lawsuit money from the Cowboys and the Virgins police??? Or IS this just a case of being black and a dreadlockwearer??? Please comment amongst yourselves, as I'm clearly, vaclempt!!!! |
