After a person accepts reality for what it is they can walk the path of a hero.

Prudence
This is the first step on the path. It's the ability to make good choices and take action on those choices. Each choice leads to a better choice when you take responsibility for it. This allows you to learn from that choice to make a better one next time and act on it.

Justice
"To each his/her Due". Once you can make good choices you can see what is justified as a persons rightfully due to yourself and others. This is the second step a person takes on this path.

Fortitude
The third step is courage. The courage to be able to accept the first two steps and stand by your decisions. Have the strength to deal with the positive or negative outcomes and move forwards.

Temperance
The fourth step is to stow and square away. This is to organize your thoughts, environment and life. Simple things like having your underwear in the same place in your dresser to other things makes things less of a pain for you.

Then the steps keep repeating one after another. A hero is a paragon of virtue. We as human beings have our flaws and will never reach such a state within our life. But constantly moving forwards taking each step in turn we can gain more than not doing anything at all.

Most of us were taught these virtues in a different way. Just thought you like to see it in another way I've come across.
