7th June 1893, South Africa
On this day, a man was thrown out of a train
He was an Indian, held a first class ticket & refused to go to the van which was meant for the coolies. That night at Maritzburg station, this man brooded, he was a new arrival to SA.

He was also Attorney at Law - studied in England
It was since he could not find clients in India he was invited to assist in a long drawn case in SA.

The man settled it out of court.
As some of us may not know the details, his name was Mohandas and he told his client Seth Abdullah and his opponent Tayyabji (a relative of Abdullah’s) that they were engaging in a legal fratricide. In the process they were not only filling the coffers of their (white) lawyers but also giving an opportunity to them to show other white men how stupid Indians destroyed one another. Mohandas' arguments made sense and both men settled the matter amicably.

India celebrated his 150th birth anniversary = 2nd Oct.
His name, Mohandas K Gandhi
