In our case, political parties are elites who fend for their short term gain ignoring the long term ramifications.

Each country has its elites and problems.
The real question is how the peple will react if these elites exaggerate.

NOTE: In theory, each movement wants to build a party, such that they follow leftit, rightist, centrist, etc... movemments

Yet, It gets way more complex if religions get involved and these oftentimes lead to wars... (that's what's our country now faces)

Considering that France has six parties, the number of major parties in India contesting parliament elections is also 6. There are also a number of regional level parties but they hardly count as their MPs are absorbed in a coalition.

And as GBelAur says, they can be broadly classified under Leftist, rightist, centrist ..
