That is odd.

The Emergency Medical and Treatment Labor Act (EMTLA) passed by Congress in 1986 explicitly forbids the denial of care to indigent or uninsured patients based on a lack of ability to pay.


My experience has been high bills when I did not have insurance, and high deductibles when I did. And of course, those bills count on our credit score once they are sent to collectors.


It is not perfect. It can use an overhaul of costs. I'm glad we do have some access when emergencies arise though.

It's the truth, that's why I said the Hospital's name.... I don't care about them coming after me either for me saying this. Worse has tried, just east of Novosibirsk.

Maybe they just didn't like my face.

It WAS a hospital for the exceedingly rich.

Later, when I had money, funny thing, they approached me at a fund drive of some sort for a new wing. WTF.

Many of these hospitals have "turned people out" also when "finished" with them, but they still needed care! New Orleans has been caught many a time for this.
