I was lucky enough to have seen him play live at Shea Stadium in 1969. He was more than great. He was an icon. One of the best to ever play and an even better man.

I also saw Mantle and Mays live (even though both were past their prime) Went to the last old timers game that Joe Dimaggio ever played. Back in those days, the only time you saw out of town players is when they played a local team or the World Series. That's why the All Star Game used to be so special. Cable and then interleague play killed the All Star Game. |

I haven't been to a live game in a really long time. I like them, but I can watch tv. That's how I found out about Aaron, checking out a sports channel to see the latest baseball news, and he showed up.

I haven't been to a game since the first season the new Yankee Stadium and Citifield opened. 2009, I think. I gave up all live events long before the pandemic. Ridiculous ticket, concession and parking prices, and rude people spelled the end of concerts, sporting events, etc. for me. Btw, if you're a baseball geek I know of the absolutely flat out best simulation game out there. |

I don't consider myself a baseball geek, but it is my favorite sport. I like to watch live games but I don't live near a stadium anymore.
