why is it a con ,offering a free service when you have to pay to get messages

It is FREE to receive/send messages, browse profiles and post on the forums. Who is asking you to pay? Di Site Moderator

im with you, cant view your match / like profile pictures, have to PAY to view it

As Delightful said, the most important features are free. And Mutual Match is only a wee game anyway.
