MY ONLY SON

The Hope of a Mother

I carried you beneath my heart,
A little life, a brand-new start.
Before your eyes could see the sun,
You were my hope, my only son.

I fought my battles silently,
And bore my pain for you and me.
When life was cruel and hope was gone,
I found my strength to carry on.
