Let me ask you this about Ron Paul. I like some of his ideas, But did he say what they are saying he said about the L.A. riots?

Well you know they say that a system of government through history has usually only lasted about 200 years. It all seems to be about getting elected, but how much power does the president really have? Is he just a symbolic gesture? Our government is in dire need of reform. A lot of what we have today needs to be updated, or changed. Until they are willing to do that, things will just continue on the downward spiral we have now.

It's interesting that we got away from England so that we would not have to pay taxes to the Queen (Boston Tea Party?) and yet now, our leaders are always thinking of new ways to raise our taxes. The income tax was only meant to pay for the war, but they got greedy and decided to make it stick for good. And just yesterday, the 40 cent proposed gasoline tax hike has been proposed in order to pay for the roads. What are they doing with the present taxes? Spending them elsewhere? All I see is that our government cannot be responsible for the money they already get from us (think about the millions of dollars wasted on Katrina relief that went to con artists or $1 Mil that went to sometimes just one FEMA trailer). Sure, many people were helped who needed it, but so much was also wasted that didn't have to be.

They say he said the only reason the riots ended was because the welfare checks came out and needed to be picked up. something to that effect. I would like to think that is just some more propoganda

I think the media has too much power because so many people get their information from the agenda driven media. I also agree that the 2 party system stinks because people in that case blindly vote the party instead of listening to the ideas of the people they're voting for.

There is too much government, too many taxes, and not enough of a feeling that the power of the american people lies with the people, not with the government.

I guess it was different in the 1800's when you could get 1000 people to agree and you really had a very powerful voice. today the voice of 1000 people is hardly worth noticing.

People should be more informed and interested than ever with the internet boom, but for some reason very few are concerned with the future.

Maybe the president should be decided 'American Idol' style where one candidate gets eliminated each week until one is left. It could be some huge media event where it would be on the cover of every magazine and people would go to the 'American President' website for more news and clips of the events between nightly telecasts.

It would be cool if they all had to live in the same house for a year too. :)

Then again, if you had the choice of being American President or American Idol, I don't think it's a big choice..

American Idol - More money, more popularity, probably get to date a supermodel or NFL football quarterback when you win. Featured in just about every magazine in the US

American President - Risk of assanation, anger from foriegn countries, anger from the american public, Followed by Secret Service for the rest of your life. Featured only in Time magazine.

It was written under his publication with his name stamped all over it. This bit of news actualy came from reliable media figures and was confirmed by Paul himself when he said he "never read" those articles. Even if he isn't lying he's dangerous, but I think he knows full well given the donations he accepted from white supremisists groups that he refused to give back (meager $500 donations at that). On my humble, I think a vote for Ron Paul is a vote for bigotry and failure;^]

Ron Paul is trying to say that the words "95% of black men are criminals" weren’t written by him (but rather someone else helping him with his newsletter), but c’mon. Let’s be serious. If they appeared in his newsletter attributed to him then he’s responsible. An apology, not an excuse, is what’s needed.

Thanks for the Info guys. I just don't see him being viable canidate as a racist. I know I for one can't tolerate that. Once again, thanks for the heads up.

This will be the best security for maintaining our liberties. A nation of well-informed men who have been taught to know and prize the rights which God has given them cannot be enslaved. It is in the religion of ignorance that tyranny begins. -Benjamin Franklin. Sorry, just feltlike saying that quote. I guess where ever this country ends up, be it good or bad, it is not the fault of the government, but the fault of the people as we control it.
