Dark Opus

Night-filled eyes
Ears fill with deafening attack
Of sleet’s staccato notes
Freezing to an obsidian staff

Tears: liquid metronomes
Meter freezing of my night
-A largo interval in absence of light –
Despair crescendos, fermata, … then rest

Pitter-patter decrescendos
Raging storm becomes a mime
Fluid notes to crystal motes:
Grave’ fights gravity: snow slows time.

Window-framed cinema in black and white
Flickers on a screen called soul
Shivering symphony compliments
This dark opus takes its toll

Then, here, in a universe stopped,
Fragile flakes fall slowly.
Now in icy agony
I thaw – forever holy
