too add to this, I have traveled abroad in europe and throughout the US
extensively. people are people. there are good and bad everywhere.
ignore the bad and listen to the good that others have to say about you.
although it takes time and a true opportunity for someone to get to know
someone, it will happen. just be patient. i have been for 36 yrs lol.

Songbirrd -- I've only been here a couple months, but I've found that
there are lots of good people here. I think it helps to post some stuff
in different topics, whenever you feel you can add something to the
discussion, or just to make somebody laugh.

In my experience here, the good-person-to-jerk ratio is higher than
anywhere else. The jerks are (were?) just more noticeable because they
can be so rude and offensive. Part of feeling welcome is letting people
know you're here and that you want to reach out to them. I think you
will see that a lot of the JSHers will respond favorably to that. Just
give it a little time.

I feel the same way. I find people who seem appealing to chat with and
then they do not answer. What does a girl do.

If they don't respond, just move on to the next person. New people are
signing up every day. There are a lot of really great people on here.
Don't give up on this site because somebody doesn't write you back
because you will lose out on meeting good people. Who knows why they
didn't respond, don't try to second guess them.

Join in the forums and have fun. Welcome aboard. Take care.

Maybe people wait a bit to contact others, to see what the new person is
like. Have heard of cases of multiple profiles, so they are just being
careful. Ladies seem to need thicker skins, than guys. Seems, to me,
bulls chase the cows more than the cows chase the bulls, isn't most of
nature that way? So ladies, please stay, take your time, listen to the
members w/more time on site/experience, be careful & report abusers.
Believe it or not, we VALUE each & everyone of you.

Good advice Sage, and the bulls do chase the cows don't they? If they
don't respond, just move on to someone else. There are lots of good
bulls and cows out here. The thing about the multiple profiles is true
too, sad but true, so people do have to be cautious.
