idk... seems to me that some folks have different meanings of what love is and how they show/receive love.

To some it's the very romantacized version... something traditional. Long-term commitment is often envolved.
To other's it's something less traditional; very passionate and often short-lived.

Many people might say something akin to "love thy neighbor", but if they told the person living next door that they loved them... the neighbor would go run away.

Two people, with two very different but both equally valid definitions might confuse the other, no?
Expectations of "I thought that you loved me and this would last forever!" Versus expectations of, "I loved you very much then and still do today... but I'm seeing someone else right now; we're very happy together... I thought you understood that about me?"

I'd say... like I have before, "See everything, overlook a great deal, correct just a little.
Know yerself... learn the other. Make your choices.
Be true to yerself always... no matter how much it hurts.

Haha, I soooo apologize for turning your wonderful craftsmenship into a fishing metaphor.

Still, that ain't the way to fish... imho.
Watch the bait-fish, 'cause that's what the fish are chasing anyway, see?
Keep your boat steady... don't move.
Watch and make your choices.

Same with love(rs).
Don't watch what they do without accounting for what they're chasing.
What they're chasing is what's important to them, afterall.
If what they're chasing is a thing you can identify with, (have in your tacklebox)... move as you like.

But the bait-fish are running for their lives... for a reason.
Fishing can be a nasty business. haha.

But in all that mess... I hope that you land a keeper.

Do these three words, “I Love You”, hold some kind of magic power that can change a person’s life overnight?

Or is it only the lonely hearts club band that knows the tune to this song, and how these three words can string people along?

 Is saying, “I love you”, ever wrong?

I don't think it's wrong... generally speaking, (From old traditional values.)

If you "love"... say so.
I things change along that path... say that too.

Playing games with love and emotions seems to have taken on new definitons that I haven't caught-up to yet... and the few that I have... well, I prefer the older versions.
If it ain't true... it's a lie.
And I don't make room for lying...
But that's just my point-of-view.

Still, ya' gotta see the humor in it all, no?

Yes, ultimately, if I can't laugh at myself, my foolish mistakes.. what's the point of it all... we live and learn...

But, if it's really love, Teditis, and at our age we know if it is or not, it's not a game... emotions aren't a toy... this online thing is a horse of a different color though... it's like you have to play the game because everybody else is...

when it's all said and done however, I'll still be myself, and it will probably still be just Hammer and me... cuz we make a pretty good team... flowerforyou

Aye, I agree completely.
However I disagree too, see?

For some it's not a game... for others' it's ALL game.
They dance through life and suck the life outta others, haha.
And then call themselves right... and others wrong.
Say that our expectations were unfair, yadayada.
And to disagree... well, now, that can get messy.
(They might be right... but you ain't wrong.
So, life's SOP has changed... and we others, adjust.)

Still, I'm happy to hear that you're knowing that you will still remain true to yourself after all is said and done.
That's rare... that's lovely.
Stay strong.flowerforyou

Reminds me of fishing... but that would be a long and boring explanation.

I enjoyed remembering my foolishness through this write... ty flowerforyou

Oh, I love to fish.. fresh or salt water... lol... glad you enjoyed it.. flowerforyou

hmm.. well, both. But the idea of chasing jumping fish as they move from place to place. We assume that everthing is random instead of watching for a pattern.
Love, feelings, human behavior aren't so random either... but way too often I've moved the boat or spent a cast to where the action was... for a moment.
It's always the thought of a kiss, isn't it? haha.
They whisper sweet lies...

Darn... I came in too late.
I think that it's beautiful in it's simplicity too.
And simple is always sooo complex.

(An aside... this life and the next next-life, I see as two different things. So having higher regard for one over the other doesn't hang me up too much, idk.)

Beautiful write.drinker

Do I display a "demeamnor"?...
I've spent a lifetime trying to get across to folks that 70% of what I say is without emapthy... My opinion, nothing more.
Virtually, "clinical".

What I do care about is an individul's character... heart and soul.
And my heartfelt thanks to all of you that share so freely in a craft that I'm not so good at.

I must be getting old and lazy, haha.
I guess that I'll have to work on my preceived demaenor. laugh

Loved the write but must ask...

If what you seek is something of value, how can a price be placed upon it.

Is it not justified by our willingness to obtain what we seek?

Then again, if we feel the price too high, is it worth it in the beginning or the end?

Just pondering for my own clarity as it seems more about justification rather than desire.

Am I correct?

Now this makes me think... tyvm.drinker

idk if the cost is always worth the reward.
Even if the price seems high at the start,
there's that secondary reward of experience.
The pain... well, that's a personal relativistic thingie, huh?
I'll let each set their own price on experiencing that.

And then that's old-school belief that realations with others... the others, themselves... are always worth our time and energy.
(We all deserve the attention of another human being, no? Or perhaps that's just guilt talking?)
A long way of clarifying that I need more time to think on this. haha.

But a question? "justified by our willingness to obtain"?
Is that another way of giving the road to "the ends justify the means"? "Law of the Jungle"?
I'm seem to doubt it coming from you... could you clarify?
Does or willingness to persue love give us justification to hurt... ourselves and/or other?

"justified by our willingness to obtain"

If we "choose" to seek a prize, a goal, an outcome, let our desire rule over our logic, it can be the law of the jungle, a wish to dominate, or a simple hope, but how often do we let logic consider the cost?

That was my pondering. Whether the piece was about justification (afterthought) or desire (forethought)...a double edged sword at best.

I hate those d*mned swords, haha. (js)
Life seems sharp and pointy enough.

Logic, ha... I've studied beyond my fill.
I prefer my intuition nowadays. And my heart's desires.
(Not that logic doesn't have it's place.)
AR's call to stand... before the fall... 'cause we all belong.

TY for the response.

Because most of the time, people toy around with whatever they can get away with. So lying temporarily confuses and distorts. I always said, people aren't smart enough to lie... 1 lie = 10 coverup lies. and they all have to jive. So yea, I have yet to meet a lifelong successful liar drinker

idk John... I think this works well for the average person.
Others have a lot of practice... not just with lying, but with learning a level of a comfortable justification fer lying.
Some play it like a game... they're as used to it and smooth at it you putting on your shoes.
Social vampires... sucking the life outta others for their own amusement.
And they very good at it.
