Okay. To catalog this idiom's proposition in its most basic terms:
1. Party A owns a goat. 2. Party B owns a goat. 3. Party A becomes dissatisfied with his goat, and therefore seeks out Party B's goat. 4. Party A gets (read: steals) Party B's goat. 5. This causes social division between Party A and Party B. Conclusion: Keep your goat ungroomed, thus unattractive to filthy goat thieves who wish to "get" it. |
