However, it's the democrats who are holding up the legislation to get the drilling started. DUH! Another reason why the oil cos. should be paying the gas taxes from THEIR profits. Hillary is right about that. Passing it onto us won't matter...they will STILL have to pay it.

The current high oil prices are directly linked to the war in Iraq.
Iraq can not get it together and continues to ask for debt forgiveness from its neighbors who so happen to be members of OPEC.

While the US, oil companies barter for contracts in Iraq, and the US taxpayers continue to pay for their reconstruction, they (Iraq) bank their oil profits. Which by all pre-projected estimates has tripled. They cant reach an agreement on how to split the profits, because many factions do not agree on Molokai and the US oil companies fair share of the profits or how they should be distributed.

In the meantime, their neighbors (OPEC) wont forgive the Iraqi's their debt, have raised the price of their oil, and refuse to increase production.

On top of that, despite their record profits, Oil companies are not investing in larger refinery capabilities. In fact BP plans on shutting one of theirs down in Calif.

So Yeah Bush is to blame, and the sheeple people who fail to educate themselves as to the real cause, and chose instead to take the word of their God and Hero (Bush) share (IMO) that blame!!

Isnt that what the republicans do best? manufacture a crisis and have a ready made solution? its no coincidence that the solution usualy makes a larg campaign doner rich

Even if OPEC raised their production, which would lower prices, it would do little good since the oil companies have failed to build additional refineries!

I think its time to nationalize the oil industry. They cannot be trusted to do what is best for our country

Why are there no new refineries? Well, go check out the environmental movement. Takes about 20 years to get the permits and studies done for siting. Then, here come the lqawsuits. You bet, lets nationalize the oil industry, then the auto industry, and then, lets nationalize the unions, then lets hang all the union members by the neck until dead, along with the environmentalists since both groupos are responsible for the dying of the american economy
