because they want to see when you are online, for one reason or aother, but dont want to be friends with you...
pure example.. there was someone who was notorious for causing trouble.. i added them to my favorites, i didnt want to be associated with this person as a friend.. they were pretty haneous.. but i did like to know when they were online cuz then i would know that it would be one heck of an entertaining nite lol; |

Some people add you to favorites just so they can get back to you later. It is a bookmarking method.
Others add you to favorites hoping you will show your interest by writing or adding them to your favorites list too. |

I wasn't initially aware that adding someone to my favorites would notify that person. I would mark people as 'favorites' that I might want to keep an eye on or review their profile more indepth.
I don't add anybody as a friend unless.... well.. unless they're really a friend. |
