as healers. Who thinks that your pet/s have gotten you through the rough patches that life has given you?

Maybe not as a healer, however IMHO I think they can help by just being there giving back unconditional love. My lab is very aware when I am in pain, and just lays her head in my lap, and sticks like glue. When I am having a good day and can walk more, she changes and wants to play.
Last week, at UVM they brought in twelve therapy dogs to destress the students in prep of finals.

For sure my cat has helped me get through the rough spots that life throws at all of us. This cat right now is my world and has been for the past 7 years. He belonged to my son before he passed away and I just didn't have the heart to give him away or get rid of him so we've been buddies ever since.

I do definitely.
The act of petting a dog or cat helps to relieve stress.
Owning a pet has been proven to help keep a person healthy (help, not cure).
I believe it is because they depend on you and actually we get dependent on them too. I know I do.
And when I am sick, which is rarely, just knowing they need me pulls me out of bed.

Absolutely. She always knew when "Dad" wasn't exactly 'up to par'.

20 years of being around each other will do that to ya.

(by the way, if there are any dog experts out there, if anyone could tell me what breed or mix of breeds she looks like, it'd be much appreciated. we still haven't the foggiest idea.... she's too small to be an alsation... at about 12 years old she's just about as tall as my knee.)

Edit: grrrrrrr nevermind

During this year when there have been moments I've cried, my cat has actually pawed or licked my tears away. When I'm not feeling well she lies close and just knows for some reason I need her. Can't explain it -- I guess it's unconditional love. She is a great comfort.
