Someone who doesn't have the money on them to buy you more than a cup of tea or coffee....or suggests you drink a glass of water on their first date with you at a diner.

Note to self: Always listen to common sense in future.

There was another thread recently with some relevant posts by LongHairBiker on this....

If he gets a little ticked off about money. Usually in the beginning they will say it doesn't bother them. Then all of a sudden, you have to start picking up the tab.

If they want to move in immediately
If what they say they do and what they really do don't match
The sex will be dry and unfulfilling literally! There will be a quality like he is not really all that into being in bed with you.

REAL DEAD GIVE AWAY!
They talk about money...
...especially yours!

Another is when they become evasive about their income and money.
Some guys are thick headed remembering dates and I am one of them. You should be able to tell when he is sincere about forgetting something like an anniversary or B Day. Stress can do weird things to people. But if his forgetting is endemic then there is an issue or red flag there.

Another dead give away is when they want to cojoin credit.
Look, if you really got money you do have to watch out. Gold Diggers come in both flavors!
Look for these signs as well,
Do you always pay when you go out?
If so you are definately playing into the game.
How much of his flash is on credit?
Is he really honest about his money?
Can you confirm what he says?
There are ways to run a credit and back ground check on him just to be sure. There are companies that will for a fee look for skeletons in his closet and also Private investigators can dig stuff up as well.

!!!! C Y A !!!!!

Real men pull their own weight!

Need to paste this one on my forehead.

*pitiful* in more than one way....

Not that single moms in my field make that much money, anyway.

When they have no problem spending your money, or asking you for things... but seem to get really irate when you need a few $'s between paydays assuming they would return the favor for the fact they actually seemed to care. This has happened to me sooooo much. Thats why if I happen to be unemployed when I meet a guy.. I make HIM get a job FIRST then I am happy to follow suit.. I just refuse to ever support a man again.

I've seen every con there is from the other person starting their car and saying "oh yeah, I paid the bill" at a posh restaurant and me going back to leave a tip and the bill is still on the table. "Oh, I mustve spaced it. I thought I paid the bill" to the everlovin "I lost my wallet or my credit card- I will pay you back". I've had people I trusted stay as a guest in my home lift cash from my wallet, steal my shoes, and my clothes, and groceries out of my cupboards. People are strange. But I would say the ones that try to con their way into your heart and wallet are the worst.

Proper etiquette on any first date would dictate that whoever asked the other out, should pick up the tab in its entirety. I have asked a man out in the past. Absolutely. I also made sure I brought enough cash with me to cover the both of us on the date. He insisted on paying for everything anyway and I allowed him to. However I still felt it was my proper place to pay since I had asked him out initially.

I dont think this thread is discussing the " first date" necessarily and is addressing more later on in the burgeoning relationship.

There is a wealth of information to be gained on that very much under-rated "first date" experience.

When his lifestyle is obviously more than his income can suport.

When he does things trying to impress you, but you pay for it later. (IE he insists on taking you to a restaurant you know he can't afford, but has to use your gas card to get you home & has to borrow dog food)

When he lives at home & lies about his financial relationship with his parents.

When he hides his toys to appear needy to his family, so they will buy his kids clothes & toys.

When he's an atheist but Christmas is his favorite holiday. He has a long list for "Santa" but he's so happy his ex has the kids this year.

When he brags about taking advantage of others.

When he dosn't go home all weekend & buys nothing at the grocery store but his favorite beverage.
