So, I'm sure most of ya'll have heard about the woman who recieved a face transplant after being brutally attacked by a chimp...
How would you feel to suddenly look into the mirror & see a stranger's face? |

I think it would freak me out just a little.

Very weird. After 50 years I've finally gotten used to this face.

I was in a really bad car accident when I was a kid. I didn't get a face transplant, but I did end up with some scars on my face. I was horrified to see what I looked like. I was 7 years old. I thought I looked like a monster and I cried for hours. I can only imagine what it would be like to wake up, have the bandages taken off and to see someone new altogether.

How would you feel to suddenly look into the mirror & see a stranger's face? I couldn't face myself. j/k Oh, what a new life that might be! To see each day anew with eyes open wide for opportunity to be a new me! Whoa. That's how I live, anyway. |

I know...........pretty good whisper, you?

If the reconstruction for the gal works/worked out, great for her.
Every few years, I accidentally get a good look in the mirror and am shocked at seeing an old man looking back at me. |

I had a friend whose face was reconstructed after a bad motorcycle accident...it was like night & day. But it was still intrinsically his face & tissue. But what I was really thinking about is: You KNOW the donor face was from a cadaver... Now, how would THAT make you feel?

Guess we do what we must in such harsh circumstances!?
I like my face. I'm sure that I'm one of those that would prefer to stick w/ the devil I know and have mastered, more than any wild card option. But, when life offers hard choices, stand up and ... Was gonna say ... "and face it." ... Most crass, considering the question. ... Stand up to it w/ courage and resolve! |
