Ok, which one do you like, which one you don't like? and why?

Which one do you use now?

Do you think Vista is better than XP?

Do you use something else instead (Apple or Linux) ?

I didn't have problems with XP. I don't have any problems with Vista.

Well, since I work on both(PC-30yrs & Mac-8yrs), I have both!

The PC has the XP, but don't dare put it on the Net...that is saved for the Mac!

After getting fed up with dealing with viruses on the PC, I switch to Mac 8 years ago, and have not had the 1st virus(even without a anti virus software...don't need it).

I'm a computer tech by trade. I use XP Pro on my machines & don't have the need for Vista. Windows & should be coming out soon which is supposed to be an improved version of Vista. I'll stick with XP unless I have a reason to "upgrade".

Mac & Linux have the advantage that spyware and viruses aren't an issue but have less software made for them. If I had the money, I'd probably get a Mac just to see what all the fuss is about. The problem with Macs is that they are twice the price for a comparable PC system.

Linux suffers from not being user friendly. Even I have a hard time installing software on them cause it has to be done from a command prompt. There's very few professional apps made for linux but most distributions are completely free. I've played around with linux a little cause I don't trust Micro$oft regarding privacy issues. Problem is, I run quite a few music apps on my PC that only run on Windows in my recording studio. If I was just going online & checking my email, linux would be just fine.

You're kidding, XP or Vista?

XP.

I kill Vistas for people on a weekly basis. They're fed-up with Vista.

Why, Nogames? My Vista is doing fine. What problems are they having?

A lot of users do not like Vista. When clients need a new machine, I always suggest they order a system with XP rather than Vista. There's too many hardware & software incompatibilities with Vista plus it requires a lot more ram to run decent; at least 2gb IMO. It is a much slower operating system & is a lot more buggy than XP.

What others say, plus to me, Vista doesn't bring anything new as a reason to keep it.

Vista will crash if you attempt to move around say, 40 000 files. I do that regularly on XP and W2KP, without even a fuss. I guess, it is ok, if you need only an e-mail and a browser, with say, a couple of office apps. That much can be accomplished even by a tiny flash notebook.

Personally, I also totally hate the gay look of Vista. I understand that this isn't an absolute, just an opinion.

Wait a minute??? A PC Guy Turning MAC? After 30 years of PC??? Hmmmmmm..... Since the IBM PC Junior was only introduced in 1983.. Also there is another company that produced a 2 processor unit... Were you using that?? (Leaving out the name to test.)

Really, I see a lot of ppl that say they were in computers for years. If you are no probs man. But I do like to test to find the true blue people out there. You can understand that.......

Where I work, there are a lot of people that use PC, and those that use MACs. What I observe, though is that PC veterans never convert to Mac. They do convert to Linux, that is true. (Not me).

We use Macs because if an incoming job was made on a Mac, it needs to be opened on a Mac. We also employ a lot of artistic types, that just can't get their things together on a PC. Their brains don't work that way. Some artists, those that more industrious, convert to PCs, instead, but not the other way around. I've seen some people that were having a tough time with computers, and turned to Macs. But, if helped to understand "how computers think", they invariably find PCs more appropriate.

Not trying to start a flame fest. I am just saying.

Personally, I don't get the way Mac works. Likewise, my brain just doesn't work that way. When I have to do something on a Mac, I hate every moment of it.

Never had any problems with XP and my friend is a computer whiz, who strongly advises against Vista. Besides, I was able to get a cheaper more efficient machine because it had XP on it, instead of Vista thanks to his advice. Go with what you're used to, I always say. I wouldn't want to go with Vista and then regret it later, it'd be a pain to have to switch back.

I'm used to vista by now, and I got to love it. I wouldn't switch back to xp.

If I had to pick, I'd say XP. That's what I run on my home computer because I need photoshop.

My personal preference is now Fedora. Loaded up my new laptop and it was like the first time I had In-N-Out. I like Ubuntu too but Fedora just fits better.

XP....stable platform, plus I don't get kicked off the internet like I do with my Vista laptop. As I enjoy online gaming, XP is the best OS out there for games. Besides, Vista is just a waste in my opinion.
