Topic: how come the instant message never works

yeah it always says "waiting to connect" and then just sits there! wheres the actual chat? what you cant do that? it has to be email to email?

It does work. I don't know how, but someone IM-ed me the other day. They promptly closed the window when I wouldn't give them my yahoo screen name, but it DID work. Maybe it has something to do with the other person's connection at that time?

I keep that option off. I don't want to be im'ed by random people unless they have the courtesy to ask me first if I would like too.

I had an IM request last night -- the pic looked like it had been clipped straight from a lingerie ad, so I thought it might be fun to deconstruct whoever this person was (or was claiming to be), but for some reason, the connection would never go through. She tried 3 or 4 times and I clicked to accept but nothing ever happened. Overall, though, the IM here has worked pretty well for me. This is the first time I can remember having a problem like this.

ok someone go to " whos online" and try too message them.... there online, yet it doesnt work! why?

If someone has the IM turned off, it doesn't show in their profile. Neither does it show when someone is in stealth mode or not online. A problem for IMs not going through could be that the other person has a pop up blocker enabled. It has to be disabled when you want to use the IM here.

They have to "Accept" your invitation to "Chat".
