This whole "bad boy" and "nice guy" thing is in my book a cop out so to speak. Women say they want just the confident guy who has an "edge", and I can understand why that would be attractive, but they get let down time and time again....but continue to go back for more. So I feel, instead of telling all these "nice guys" to become bad boys, maybe some of these thrill seeking women need to reevaluate, what they really need in a relationship. I come across as a "nice guy" and actually do fit that mold. But if you are to look at my history...whether it be sexual or just plain crazy behavior, I have done, you could say I am a bad boy. But that still isn't enough for most women. Some women truly want an asshole. A genuine, don't give a crap a-hole. This may hold me back in some respects, but I have decided to be true to myself and act like a gentleman in most circumstances.

I've never had anything against a 'nice guy' until I joined this site and see, day after day, thread after thread, of self-professed 'nice guys' bemoaning that they can't get the girl. I've dated many guys who were nice (personally, I prefer the term 'good people' but they all had one commonality; they didn't gripe about the poor hand life dealt them. Rather, they picked themselves off of their ass and any self-pity was very short lived. You think women want an asshole? Maybe you should read through the thread (and the million other 'nice guy' threads) and see what a woman's definition of a 'nice guy' and a 'bad boy' are. We've all got our pre-conceived notions of concepts and terms. ~~~ |

Many people, whether male or female, dislike the straightjacket that social acceptability has always been. The force towards conformity is part of the value system, just as effective as a bra for training and holding the shape...and of course there are spots that chafe, especially if you need to live a "larger life" at times.
Look back in history, over thousands of years, there have been "bad" people breaking away from traditions and conformity. Many--perhaps even most--of the great thinkers and doers of history broke away from the mind-numbing self-restrictive thinking around them. If their attempts gained notoriety (and their badness was unsuccessful) then they were punished. If their attempts were successful, then the outcome was that history changed, and sometimes the path of society and civilization changed, and they became esteemed for their great "contribution" to broader thinking, science, music, etc. "Well-behaved women seldom make history," or something close to that, says a lot about the nature of society. Society defends itself, especially by those whom have cultivated success within the predictable rules. So, there you are. Choose to be a scarlet voyager, by night, and a pillar of society, by day...or choose to go overboard in either direction, and lose the flavor of wildness balanced with mature responsibility.\ BTW As an American, and being thankful for ALL the contributors to the founding and forming and early growth of this nation, I tend to have a higher regard for pirates and outcasts than is taught in schools. The noblest fighters that gave me a heritage worthy of keeping were often outcasts, loners, adventurers, and religious misfits--of both sexes, and of many tribes and nations. What I seem to hear, in the "attraction to bad boys" is distaste for the lukewarm or tepid milkiness of character that might define "nice guys" in some way. [I am nice, to my princess, but that in no way is a reason for others to let down their guard with me. Enriching my life, at the expense of fools, is the trademark of my native currency: Buyer beware.  ] |

it is actually in their DNA believe it or not...many studies have looked into what attract women to men....and the overall conclusion that has been reached is this... women are attracted to men sub-consciously by how much testosterone and other male-producing hormones.....this attraction can be created by smelling a man's sweat, hearing his voice, or even by the shape of his face it is known that men with higher testosterone and those other male-producing hormones seem sexier and attractive to women....it just so happens that these hormones make the man seem like an "asshole" and actually makes him have an increased chance of cheating we are just animals really that respond to hormones and possible pheromones given off by the opposite sex....the more of these hormones and pheromones, the more attractive they are to us it is fine if you do not believe me...but read into studies that have been conducted about male hormones or even pheromones....i am reading a book now called "Do Gentlemen Really Prefer Blondes" The science behind attraction, sex, and love....it is a very interesting read |
