Pain. I can't speak for all but maybe some.

Emotional pain is something we don't know how to deal with well. So the best remedy for that is to shut it out and not put ourselves in the situation to have to maybe deal with it.

Did you just quote yourself? lol. Guys aren't afraid of commitment. They're are afraid that the girl won't keep it herself. Almost every guy has been burned when they did the right thing and that's why you think they're afraid.

Id have to agree with the pain thing on some level. But also i dont think guys have given up commitment at all. Hell i know i wish i had that with someone who was not only my love rbut bestfriend. I think thats whats wrong we just get witht he wrong people. Love isnt some magical thing that just happens, anyone who is in love will tell you that the person they love is also their best friend....Look for a friend before you look for that commited lover

Sometimes you have to give up the good with the bad. Its a choice that everyone has to make for themselves.

Commitment is fine if i met the "right" person. Till then... i'll tell the wrong people i'm not interested in taking that step with them.

I don't consider this me being afraid, i consider it me not wanting to repeat past mistakes i have made in my life.

Hope that clears it up, and Welcome.

Just because you have bad taste in men doesn't mean that all men have commitment issues. And women are just as bad. why is it that you always hear about men cheating but never the women. It takes two to tango.frustrated rant

It takes two to tango.frustrated rant

Exactly! Good, Bad, or Indifferent - relationships, or lack thereof, takes two.

Let's face it, we all send out "vibes" whether we're willing to acknowledge it or not. If the vibes you're sending out are not conducive to letting someone else know they're loved and cherished, they're going to perceive that something isn't quite right... hence, come in insecurities, fear, cautiousness, etc. - all negative impacting feelings.

Knowing who you are - strengths and challenges - and the willingness/ability to share of that person openly and honestly is the beginning to establishing the foundation in any relationship - be it friends, professional, or romantic.

My two cents worth.
:-)

I'm a strong believer in being committed to that someone special and to my friendships. These days, however, and after a couple decades of failed attempts at commitment and family, I've shifted my priorities quite a bit to acheive my goals with or without that special woman.
