Elkhart County, Ind.—

Angel Rodriguez stood on the front lawn, cradling his infant son, surrounded by porcelain figures, a playpen, a couch, shoes — the familiar ephemera accumulated in better times.........

.....
.....
.....
.....

"Us illegals, we don’t have unemployment," said Rodriguez, an undocumented immigrant from Mexico City. "If I had unemployment, I wouldn’t have had to give up the trailer.".......

slaphead Duh! If he had entered the country legally he could get unemployment. Sorry, I've got no sympathy for illegals. Enter the country correctly, legally.shades

Plenty of people manage to come here legally and greatly contribute to our country. If their government is so screwed up, why don't they do something to fix it. We are not the answer to all Mexico's problems like the Mexican government seems to think.

Just as Britian has no leg to stand on in the same argument. If ur referrin to the US military occupyin other countries, that's a whole other argument/debate. This pertains to people who come into the US illegally an then complain when they can't get services they would otherwise be able to obtain if they had come into the country legally. shades

Agreed. Plus if they had kids here, the kids are entitled to a free education, minus tuition. And can not be denied health care.

I don't feel that children born here to illegal parents should have the right or claim to citzenship. If they are here legally then yes, they should have the right or choice to claim citzenship. shades

I would agree, but the people on the Mayflower were not citizens, but their kids were considered to be. It is a loophole, anyone born here is considered to be a US citizen. So my point is that we will not deport millions of illegal aliens when their children are left behind...I.E. Anchor baby term comes to mind.

I can say with all honesty an sincerity, I'm very proud of the fact that my grandmother didn't have that mentality. She came here legally, married, an had children. All the while renewin her green card everytime it came up for renewal. If only millions of others had her morales. shades

I am a vet and a proud american. But in the end we are all immigrants in some form or another.

Ask the Native Americans who the immigrants are.

doesn't Mexico have strict citizenship laws? my understand is...a lot of countries have strict laws...so why shouldn't we be able to enforce the laws we do have?

If Mexico can't take care of themselves, maybe they should just become a part of the U.S.. It would fix problem of immigration and sub standard pay, bring in new tax money, and force the U.S. companies who move there to own up to their tax liabilities.
