background: so i was half passed out/drunk in the back seat..friend was driving (she), guy in the passenger was interested in her...she was on the phone talking

body language: so the guy , was just chillin...but every once in a while, would jerk his body/ roll up/down the window a little...talk to himself ....he probably thought no-one was noticing, but me and the girl talked about it afterwards..

perception;girls perception was that he was annoyed cause she wasn't paying any attention to him...even though he said he didn't mind her carrying on with the phone conversation....

my perception was that he looked like one of those homeless people that have mental disturbances and can't control their outbursts..and that it had less to do with getting attention and more to do with mulling over things in his head, which caused body jerks..

What do you guys think??

I think that he was totally annoyed! Some guys will never admit that because of the interest in the girl!frustrated

I suspect the girl's perception would be the one

He was completely annoyed and felt awkward having to sit through a (perceived) rejection while she was on the phone. Didn't know what to do with himself and got spastic.

yeah he was just probably like what the hell do i do? just sitting there? Kinda akward when someone else is on the phone if ur in the passanger seat. look out the window,,,,think,,,,talk to yourself? it would annoy me....when people do that to me i ask them questions and pretend like they arent on the phone just like they pretend i'm not there. sales appointments this happens a lot!

wow...fascinating 4/4 on being annoyed by the girl not giving him some attention...I really thought it was just the guy having some mental/body difficulties and that he would have behaved that way regardless who was driving & talking on the phone...I don't know the guy well enough to ask him about it, but I do know the girl...I'll let her know that her assessment was on target...

Thanks

p.s. -- i'll check back later on to see if there are any other views, if any, also, more details -- the guy too was inebriated and he also threw up and we had to make emergency stops once in a while for that...not making excuses for the guy but I just thought that would explain a little about the rolling window up/down and muttering things due to body discomfort....the girl was sober

Ummm sounds like the guy must have been saying to himself:

Gawd I'm feeling like a bag of Sh@t right now.... hope I don't puke in her car.... she's really hot.... I'm spinning.... please not now... I'm gonna ralf... I hope she doesn't notice how green I am...

There's no way this guy was annoyed at her.... IMO

i suppose the added comment made a difference...now its 4/6 in favor of lack of attention vs. just plain feeling like crap....also, forgot to mention..the girl always thinks guys are always after her and so she thinks everyone's action/reaction is toward her...maybe this will even sway more opinions towards the latter perception..

90% of human communication is non-verbal. There's an entire science dedicated to reading body language and it's fascinating. You wanna' know what somebody really thinks? Don't listen to what's comin' outta' their mouth...watch their body language instead. Comes in handy if yr confronting somebody or trying to pick up somebody or whatever...

I still think that he was into her! But hoping not to puke in the car! And maybe he was trying to talk to her and just mumbling think he was talking lol! huh

I would consider it rude if the other person was chatting on the phone. So, I'd be very annoyed. He may not be the type who can sit and be annoyed quietly.

Would it still be rude if her call was very important and she asked him if it was okay to receive the call.

Second part, there are indeed people that find it difficult to sit quietly when left alone; for example, when you finish dinner first and have to wait until the other person finishes theirs. When I go out with friends, the majority just can't wait patiently, they fidget, move around, ect...it obvious they want the remaining people to finish. Only a few can wait patiently...those that do for some reason are the most hot-headed friends i have -- the correlation is very weird.

Follow up -- she called the guy and told him about his unusual behavior. He adamantly denies he was annoyed or seeking attention.

I really don't know, I suppose some of it can be explained by being drunk, but most drunk behavior that I've witnessed in cars are they just pass out and slur incoherently from time to time, not jerk/twitch and mumble semi complete sentences.
