The Reader
Made the mistake of buying it without seeing it first. I want my money back!
I was not impressed with this movie. Felt more like soft porn and a coward who doesn't have the balls to stand up to the court then some oddly related book/love. |

Recently, not much. My schedule has been wonky, so it didn't do me any good.
Before that, many things... LOL |

Pet and love of animals post
QUOTE: this is a biach....about the local bird fanciers who did a dastardly deed... there was an osprey nest on the local cell tower. of course when it is boinking season, they screech. and they fly all over the place...like diving into lake silicon for fish....but they are glorious birds to watch when soaring in the sky.... somebody took the nest down, and i think they should be shot for doing it. everyday, i would ride by on the bus or walk by and look up in the sky for the nest....messy as hell with sticks all over the place, but still a sacred thing...
mother nature should not be tampered with, so city officals i think it stinks what you did. take that....
Was that even legal? Aren't Ospreys a protected bird? Might get in touch with the local news station, pull in some local animal groups, see if public humiliation, at least, might help. |

Abortions
QUOTE: Then you have NO idea exactly how it works. I was on it for about a year. I got 190 a month. You can't live on that at all! Not only that, but when we finally went to court with my sons father, he had to PAY BACK EVERYTHING the state had given me. Not only that, but while you receive assistance, you have to either a.) Go to work or b.) go to school. How could anyone survive off of 190 a month? Why do you care? I have worked my whole life and paid taxes, so why don't I deserve some help when Im down? I get sick of people complain about things they have NO clue about. Food stamps is completely different and there are more people being dishonest about that than anything. I am not on it any longer, but thankful that is it there for people that need it. Food stamps in Texas work the same way. I think I got 30.00 a month. Just for myself. I fully agree that's no way to live. Even drinking water via the tap, there's not really a good way to eat. I also agree that it is my tax money, and that's why I use it, and unemployment when I needed it. I put into it, and I wanted it back. But, I and others who have used it, also got back on their feet and got off it. You did as well. There are plenty of people who have no plans doing so. A friends ex d-in-l is playing the system, and the military as well as she and he play games back and forth. She's never been able to afford to have kids, and holds a job a week tops, once a year. She'd got 4 kids, and fuilly admits, if she could find a guy, she'd have more. That is wrong, and that type of person needs to be sterilized, especially if she's going to plunk her butt on welfare. I was constantly appalled at the folks who have Lexus SUV's sitting outside the welfare place. I counted 2 and a mercedes benz and a hummer, one day while I was sitting in the waiting room. Sell the dang vehicle, get something used, and get to work. The money spent on that alone would feed a group of people. Quit milking the system. The gal in the office said they were directed to ignore the vehicles, even though they knew that it was owned and belonged to the people sitting there waiting for their money. |

QUOTE: QUOTE: QUOTE: QUOTE: QUOTE: Is the Shroud of Turin considered a fake? I thought it was considered real, but it's been a long time since I heard about it. Yes, it's a fake. It's been known to be a fake for years. It's from the middle ages. It's been documented and dated over and over. Just let it go, already... I wasn't holding onto it.
I thought it had been labeled legit, but not from that time period. The embalming and stuff used were correct, but it's not as old as the time period that's claimed... ? they did carbon dating on a shred and determined that it was mid 14th century later it was discovered that the shred they dated was a repaired piece that had a obvious difference in weave pattern under a microscope so they requested permission from the vatican to carbon date a different piece. that was a couple years ago I don't know how that turned out but the archeo-botanists have determined that pollens embedded in the fabric are consistent with pollen from Jerusalem 2000 years ago Gotcha! Thanks for the update. |

He's Christian. Pagans have devils too Really? Unless you're talking about the demons of Hinduism, and they're aren't pagans, except in the non-Christian sense. |

That doesn't really mean much though. Yeshua, Jesus, Joshua are fairly common, then and now. So it could be any guy by that name.
Besides, what person then and now gets their gravestone engraved in multiple languages? |

Awesome Abra!
But like Ruth brought up, don't forget to ground. I know I've had experiences were I was totally out of it, if I didn't ground. As in I don't remember how I made it through the day, and I was in the car. Not good. |

Always have been, in the literal sense. There was only a short stint in the city and there's no way in Hel I'll ever do that again!
Spiritually, and officially, during a Midsummer ritual 15 years ago. Was raised Atheist, and got into and enjoyed looking into all of the similarities of the various religions, then tracking the stories back to their more original state. I'm an eclectic shamanic practitioner, and weave various belief systems together. I enjoy and continue to pick up various religious books, and wander my way through them. |

Abortions
QUOTE: QUOTE: QUOTE: to a slight degree, I agree with her. I know way too many gals that have a child and go on welfare. Then have 2-3-4 more kids that we have to pay for. using the kids as a way to make a free living. This is the abuse of the system that needs to stop! easy answer.. if you go on welfare..NO more babies. if you do.. welfare gets cut off. Now this I can see and fully support. Ever been on welfare? Food stamps, yes. I know perfectly well I couldn't afford to have kids. Therefore I didn't do it. Mob stated it simply. If you get on it, you get temporarily, at least, sterilized. If the gov.t is paying to support you and the children you have, then it isn't any more expensive for the gov.t to sterilize you then it would be to keep paying for all the extra children. If you don't want to be sterilized, even temporarily, then you don't have to get on welfare. I'd also like to add, having sat at the welfare offices, that everyone who gets one of those checks, or debit cards, need to be required to take a drug test, before the funds dop, and randomly. After all, if I have to take one to have a job, then they need to be taking one to get money/food etc. |

Abortions
QUOTE: If she goes in to get an abortion for no good medical reason or a rape... She automatically gets her tubes tied?! So, essentially she's blamed for the rape? Why isn't the rapist getting a vasectomy if he rapes a woman? At least that would stop any abortions from rape. There are plenty of women out there who would be happy to get their tubes tied, without ever having children. However, the government isn't really going to allow that to happen as it cuts into the breeding population should something like war decimate a population. I have a friend who has a history of miscarriages, with a family of women who have miscarriage after miscarriage. She had 4 miscarriages before finally having a child. All of the women in her family had one girl child, before their doctors would let them have a tubal. Her grandmother died giving birth to her mom because she hemorraged. Allie didn't want to really have the kid, but her doctors wouldn't let her get her tubes tied until she had one. Then they still made her get written permission from her husband to get her tubes tied. |

Who likes camping?
QUOTE: I used to camp for extended periods of time, usually in a 3 foot wall tent or a 16 ft teepee. The teepee was great..tons of room but a lil chilly in down rite snowy conditions. I liked the wall tent better for winter campin, you can keep the stove goin an stay toasty! I've been looking at some small teepees for something easy and different. Thought that would be fun. Or a yurt. The smaller ones can be put up by a single person. Lots of room inside. |

Abortions
QUOTE: QUOTE: QUOTE: Birth control. It's cheap. It's accessible. Whether you're pro-choice or not, most people agree that less abortions is better. The majority of abortions occur because of a "woops". Forgot to use birth control. It's BOTH parties responsibility. USE IT!
And again, birth control doesn't always work. Sadly, it's not always cheap anymore. Some of the stuff I've looked into is 50-100.00 a month. Without insurance. If nothing else, at least use condoms. Of course, they aren't going to work 100% of the time. But, if not getting pregnant is important, definitely look into birth control. I pay $10/month with my insurance. Condoms, and birth control pill AND foam. All together. Didn't work. Since I'd had heart surgery 2 months before, I terminated it. So, again, it doesn't ALWAYS work, and forcing someone to carry is wrong. Period. I haven't found anyone here who will do a tubal as a permanent way to stop a pregnancy because I am a healthy 30 year old who might(not) want kids. The doctors won't agree to it. It was 9.00 a month when I had insurance. But I don't have insurance, as my job doesn't provide. Therefore it's 50-100.00 a month. Not cheap. I can't use the 9.00 Wal-Mart generic as it makes me rage, literally. Still haven't figured that one out, but when I have the urge to kill someone (in this case it was one of the goats, who if I could have broken his neck, I would have) with my bare hands, and that's the only medication I'm on, and there's no reason to cause that kind of rage, then I get off it, and can't use it. |

Bra Or No Bra
QUOTE: i never really thought about it being trashy or not. i've always prefered to wear the camisole-type tank top (with a built-in semi-bra and a shirt over top of that, either buttoned or not buttoned, and really could give a rat's arse whether someone thought i appeared distasteful. Same here. I don't care, and so long as I'm not doing anything that hurts, like horseback riding, I generally only wear a bra when I have to dress up for work or whatever. People fixate on the idiotic things. If we spent half as much actually working for peace as we do griping about boobs, nipples, and the money spent on them, this world might be a better place. |
