I just wanted to say thank you to the wonderful people who were so supportive and had such nice things to say when I was running away from everything and everyone earlier this week. I was in total relapse mode, but thank God I did not drink. I am continuing to put one foot in front of the other and trying to count my many blessings and just take each day as it comes. I know I will go through more times like these. No one ever recovery was easy, but I know that things can and will only get better as long as I trust in God and continue to do the next right thing. There are a lot of good people on this site. Thank you again for all of your kindness and support. It really meant a lot to me. flowerforyou

You can't just change your habit, it is a life change. For everything that brings you stress, you must have a stress reducer. In the beginnings, it's all about support from others until you find your way. People can laugh about AA,NA or any of the other support groups, but for 2 years of finding myself, making new friends, they and my children were what kept me going. It's a long hard road. If you need a number to call for a friend....let me know

Stay strong, I know you can do this! Everyone can do something to better themselves. I've never had a problem with alcohol, but my weight has always been a problem. Earlier this year when I was going through a divorce, I decided to make a couple changes.
1. never let a man treat me the way I was being treated
2. to get healthier

so far i have been sucessful on both. I started exercising and dieting, and although i want to go back to being able to eat all the yummy not good for me food, I just remember how much happier I will be with myself when I completely love who I am. 50 lbs later, and it keeps getting easier! I know you'll eventually find it easier too!

Please don't fall off. NOTHING is worth drinking over. It will not make anything better for you...only worse, and that is a promise.

Tell yourself that even if your ass falls off, you won't drink. All of that hard work and you would have to start all over again...for what?

I am so proud of you for 5 years. That is huge. You do not want to go back to what's out there. It's still as bad as it was before and it will get worse.
